I have read through dozens of threads on here about this. I think I have clarity, then I read another thread and boom...confused all over. I have 16 DCSB OR. Currently have adjustable coils in front with 2.25 of lift. I added sumo springs and 1/2” toytec block in rear. I have an ARE topper and prinsu rack on it and awning. I carry 1-2 bikes in the back frequently. I have Kuat 4 bike that I use often. I have RTT I take on and off over summer. I also tow a Winnebago Micro Minnie 17BH that weighs in at 3800lbs when loaded. Truck is also my DD. I have 265x75x16 now, but I am switching to 255x85x16 in a week. I am considering the Toytec 3 leaf AAL and keeping the sumos. Will this work for my diverse needs? Should I look at OME medium pack instead? I do not want a ton of rake. 1/2-3/4 inch is fine. I am considering the toytec 3 AAL because I can pick it up in person in Denver and avoid shipping. Thanks

I would go with full pack. I don't with weight you carry/tow, 3 leaf AAL will do. Look into icon rxt you can set it up the way you want, 3 different stages.

The 3leaf AAL will work for your uses, but I'd expect you'll be riding on your Sumos most anytime you load any or all of the items you mentioned. Honestly from the sounds of things, if you decide to proceed with the 3leaf you may want to retain the stock OL leaf.

IMHO, your uses and needs sound more in line with a full leaf pack. But again, the 3leaf AAL will do the job but perhaps not as efficiently.

@backcountryj thanks. The not as efficiently has me concerned. This how I got so confused. I see some guys on here say it works (similar needs) and others say it will not. The cost between the two is not really a concern. What is the primary difference between the 3 AAL w/ stock overload in and the full OME medium pack?

To my understanding it is the overall construction and intended use. The Dakars are built with thicker heavier duty leafs, meant to carry sustained weight and maintain lift. Whereas the 3leaf AAL are built with thinner leafs, and will provide a progressive/forgiving ride. But they aren't built for weight.

Contact a vendor. There are plenty to choose from. They will most all direct you to a full leaf replacement to satisfy the uses you've described. But if you really want to run a 3 leaf, it will work....just not as efficiently.

You can frame a house with finishing hammer if you really want to, its a hammer after all.

@backcountryj Thanks for the explanation. In all of the threads I read, I could not find a simple explanation between a full leaf pack and a 3 leaf AAL.
