@phobs a local fabricator in town. He does great work and makes rock sliders as well. Here's his site: http://tacomapocalypse.com/
You'd probably have to request for first gen bed racks.

Had a 97 SCSB 4x4 manual, some years later went to an 06 DCSB 4x4 manual, the realized 1st gen is far away the best so now I have a 98 ECLB Prerunner. I don’t know why I ever got another truck.

Honestly, had a couple people ask for the paint code. I don’t know it, my brother bought the paint and helped me get it done. It’s the 2016 trd pro cement gray. I’ll post the exact paint code when I got it.

If anyone is interested, go check out my frame swap/truck resurrection from a total!

I custom built this one, couldn't find exactly what I was looking for at a reasonable price! Here's a mid-build picture, before the SCS wheels:IMG_2651.jpg

Thanks for the code! Just read your build thread, truck is unrecognizable from the first picture!! Crazy stuff, that's a hell of a project. Hats off

With that 2.7 I worry about any weight addition. It gets pretty good MPG as is. At some point I’d like to do a lightweight weekend camping set up and maybe one of those Austrialian winches. I’ve been all up and down the Baja peninsula and gotten in and out of some pretty hairy places. It always blows me away when an early 80’s Tercel comes driving up still clean.

I know the feeling. At some point I will be adding some sliders and bumper to my truck, but I want to keep it as light as possible. You can almost go anywhere with a small lightweight truck with some good traction and 4wd.
A winch is definitely a good idea. Especially if going out on escapades on your own.

I’ve also got the 2.7l. It’s got a plate bumper, winch, weld on sliders, and a fiberglass topper...all on 33s and stock gearing. It gets anywhere from 15-18mpg on the interstate depending on the land. Hills and mountains-15, flats-18. 80+mph-16/17. Tailwind-18. Into the wind-15.

I’ve made at least 10-2000mile trips in it the last couple of years and have tracked mileage on all but 1 or 2 trips. Recently snorkeled it and can’t speak for mileage just yet. But it does feel a little more peppy at 70+mph.

    I

I just did a 3 tanks of gas trip (almost all highway) where I was doing 70 on cruise control. I got 22.7, 21, and 22.9. I’ve got 3.54 gears so that keeps the RPM’s way down.
