What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I was going to plasti-dip the chrome tip as well, but was not sure about the exhaust heat on the dip, is it ok, will it hold up? if so will do that tonight.

 

Wasn't sure as well, has held up so far.

Did you just use the existing power from the lighter socket when connecting this or did you run wires to the fuse panel or battery directly?

 

I think I will go ahead and do it, try it out, last piece of Chrome on my Taco, except for Headlights....

I used the existing wires. I cut the OEM clip wires as close to the clip and I could, then stripped/crimped the blue connectors that came with the device. There was a purple wire (positive) and a striped wire (negative) that I then just connected to the charger device. Easy peezy.

 

Took it into the dealership today. They ordered a replacement strip and will install tomorrow.

 

After reading some TW posts about the Homelink rear view mirror, I ordered a previously-owned model from Bob’s Automotive Mirrors last week. It arrived today and looks brand-new. The whole installation process-removal of the original mirror, installation of the Homelink mirror, and programming of the 3 door buttons-couldn’t have taken more than 30 minutes. A small, but useful mod!

Poitrasbh has an awesome write up. At the end of the write up it has a blurb about people using a Dodge Ram motor, it would be a lot easier than the one I used. But other than that the write up will get you there.

 

What cap brand is that? I have a Silver DCLB OR on order. Should arrive in mid March. I intend to get a cap and might get one with a little extra height like yours. (Obviously I like your rig since I’m buying one exactly like it ). Any feedback on the cap?

It is a SnugTop Highliner, I do love it. I got the taller one, planning on putting drawers in my bed for storage and put a mattress for sleeping on my overnight fishing trips. I went in to order one, found this one in stock at my local dealer, I got real lucky. I hadn't really thought to much about the win-doors, but now after having them, I love them. Really allows easy access from the sides. Have a bedrug liner coming to finish out the interior, and what I have heard is when I build my drawers, the bedrug keeps the noise down being under the drawers. So that is my plan.

I saw a truck on here with same topper, with a Prinsu Rack on the cab, real sharp setup, so that is my plan, to level it out on top with a rack, probably a prinsu.
