Do what I do, just TIG everything so you only have to do prep grinding!

If you use a grinder to clean your welds that makes you a grinder, not a welder :)

    That’s exactly what I am.

I’ll be a welder in about ten years.

I leave the slag on the piece. Gives my project texture and “character”

I'm out of practice like hell, but back when our maintenance department was super understaffed, I did a lot of stainless welding for a food facility.

I learned how to weld with TIG which probably isn't the best way to do it.

But TIG is the best weld imo, strong and looks good

I can actually stick weld decent. That's all I've ever used. I just got a mig this year. Still messing with it. Would like to get the tig setup and tig tank and play with it.

Question for you guys. I'm looking at buying a 3rd gen 4runner. The guy says the trans is shot but the motor is great. It's got like 165k mi on it. The price is pretty good basically what a motor will run me to swap in my 1st gen runner. But he dosen't have the title which I dont care too much about. But he is saying that the reason he dosen't have the title is because he defaulted on the payments and the bank wrote it off as a loss. That's what worries me. If I buy it and somehow the bank comes at me and says hey that's ours or say he pays what he owes will he get the title and come at me? Idk. Maybe you guys have an idea. My plan is to pull the motor wiring harness and computer and just junk little pieces at a time.

My first 4runner has no title. But it had gone through more than a few hands and its junk. Only reason I bought it was for the axle.

Of course nobody heard your last sentence

If you really want to make it work kinda properly , you'd have to do a title search. I have never actually done it myself - never had to - but I bet there is a way to run a Vin and figure out if there is a lien on the title, and if so how much is it. But then again I might not know wth I'm talking about anyways... :anonymous:

It's alright, I didn't mean anything bad by what I wrote, so I hope no one took it a wrong way... None the less I live ever so slightly North East of Philly, and around here things mentioned above are frowned upon. Sometimes I fcking hate it here, yet still I'm here:anonymous:
When I looked it up, it directed me straight to NY dmv website, which might not help since you're in Commonwealth of PA, and vehicle in question might not have been registered in NY ( https://process.dmv.ny.gov/TitleStatus/ ). When I checked your DMV, it's not mobile friendly but it seems they want money to check it.
