    Toyota just sent me an email highlighting the 2020 Tacoma.. I’m sure a lot of you got the same email..

    some new avaiable features included: power seat option, Apple car play, multi-terrain monitor, panoramic view monitor, standard TSS, Rear cross traffic alert, redesigned front grille, available LED headlamps, restyled tail lights..

    None of those little "upgrades" would inspire me to trade my 2018. Like most people I'm the one who drives my vehicle the majority of the time so no need for an electric seat

    Apparently Toyota's market research doesn't listen very well. The majority of us would be perfectly happy saving weight with manual up/down seat adjustment capability yet their update consists of a heavy ass power seat. It seems giving people what they want doesn't make much business sense.

    Given that Toyota actually tore down every part of that BMW I6 for the Supra. Then tested all the parts for reliability and continued to send each part back until it met Toyota's durability standard.....

    I don't think Toyota's R&D moves at the pace necessary to improve a powertrain within 4 model years.


    It wouldn't be worth it to make small improvements to Fuel Economy and Power in the Toyota Corporate culture. It seems like even a small improvements require big costs in Reliability and durability testing at least for Toyota.
