Started up, ran and drove with simple fixes requiring simple hand tools and attention of less than an hour each time.

 

Until they dropped a 200' industrial chimney on it.

They needed some pliers and a screwdriver to start it up then.

I will admit, one major difference is all the electronics in the newer Toyota trucks. The truck they tested/crushed/submerged/toasted/dropped was a REAL Toyota truck. No frills, no luxury, just straight up truck. So, water would plague a newer model much more effectively.
