we use SunTek Carbon and CXP (ceramic) in our shop. for a full 4 door truck we charge $215 for carbon and $280 for CXP. we charge $125 for full windshields unless it's a transit van or RV type vehicle, then of course that is more. there is no way we could get away with charging $500 plus for a tint job in our area, we wouldn't be in business very long.

just because it's 3M doesn't mean its their top tier film. 3M, Llumar, SunTek, SolarFX, Formula One, etc...ALL make "cheap" films. if you find a tint shop charging $99 or $125 for full cars then they are most definitely using CHEAP film. even if name brand.

I paid $600 for huper optix ceramic all around. 50% on rears, 20% on fronts, and 60% on windshield. A true ceramic is much more expensive and much harder to work with than your regular run of the mill tint. It also cuts down on a lot more heat and is a clearer tint when looking through it.

Rear windows are just privacy glass. They offer no heat or uv protection.

not many places even use Huper Optix film. our cost on that stuff is astronomical! it is a DAMN good film! I have had one car tinted with it in the past, and honestly I couldn't tell a difference between it and our SunTek CXP film. but if it weren't so expensive, I would use it for sure.

Yea there’s only two places in Louisiana that are authorized dealers. One just happens to be right across the street from where I work.

there is a thread already about this. actually on most manufacturers you would be correct in this statement. but, Toyota and Lexus privacy glass does offer UV protection and heat rejection. granted, it isn't near as much as adding a ceramic film, but it does at least offer some.

Well I stand corrected. I assumed it didn’t offer much. I would still tell someone to put something over it. But that’s just me lol

So 35% on rears/back window and 20% on fronts and it should be a match? I've always only done the fronts to match the factory privacy glass on other vehicles, never did the rears.

Mine took 50% on rear to match but 35% wouldn’t be much different.

yes, this will be the best match possible. if you only want to do the front 2 then do 20%. but know that it will match pretty closely looking into the truck from the outside. looking out of the truck though the front will look darker. that is because you are looking thru a film and not just dyed glass. we do this sort of thing probably 4-5 times a day, sometimes more in our shop.

Get a carbon film at the minimum, skip the dyed stuff.

I have SunTek CXP all around on mine, but will eventually go full ceramic (and darker).

We paid $500 to have our GX 460 tinted with full ceramic (SunTek CIR), that included the windshield and sunroof.

A quality ceramic film is worth it IMO.

Hey @JimmySport , do y’all fool with any of the glass sealers like Glassparency? Do they work and is it worth the money?

Yeah she didn’t want to drive that far. Hey, I tried tho lol :)

I want to redo mine and put 5% CIR all around and 50% on the windshield. I just dread taking the current tint off. Such a pain in the ass.

no, we have never messed with any of that stuff. we only do tinting. we leave stuff like that to professional detailers. the owner of our shop and myself both used to be professional detailers, but we don't do it anymore.
