You guys and your newer trucks haha. Just went back out to try and get that screw out. Completely rounded her out. Awesome.... @mesojdm any idea the fastener size and pitch? Gonna have to extract this thing and find a replacement.

Not the first time I've heard this happening. What's the trick to getting a stubborn one out? Penetrant for a couple days?

Ideally a hand impact for those soft Phillips screws, but even with the door removed I bet it's still be hard. Grind the head off and use vice grips?

    Edit for all those typos

Anyone know what size screw holds the fuel spring clamp in? I may or may not have butchered the head on the one for my truck lol

Funny thing is that I installed the gasshole, realized that it didn't seem secure and that there's a groove in it to get it to seat right in the door. Went to undo the screw and mayhem happened:facepalm:

If you have a tough screw, spray some penetrating solution on it and use an impact drill to “break” it loose. A hand screwdriver does not have the instant torque and you’ll end up rounding the head. I had a old rusted 2nd gen that was a PITA, so I dremeled a flat in it and used a big flat head screwdriver to extract it.

What do you guys think of color matched Gassholes?? I’m already spraying the headlight trim panels it wouldn’t be much to throw some of these in there. There would be a small upcharge ~$5 but after looking at some of the colored fuel doors, a paint matched would blend in even better.

So for anybody like me decided to use an impact driver on installation and ended up completely rounding out your screw:
    20190212_103639.jpg
I was able to get the screw out by using some needle nose locking plyers/vices. There was just enough room around the spring clip to get the screw moving. I replaced the screw with an M6 1x12mm pan head. My gasshole is now happily installed:
