I have to say my 2nd gen "bucked" more so with the same exact 5000 load this 2016 Taco pulls. 2016 is better. Very smooth and better power I noticed. I really don't know what people are bitchin about. Probably because they don't have one !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've had my taco since May and I'm loving it. I'll be 54 tomorrow and it's my first truck. I've had lots of cars including 4 4runners, a celica, audi s5, bmw z4, range rover, benz E55 AMG, mustang GT convertible and a 1975 camaro. What do I like best about it? I can't put my finger on it. It's fun to drive and looks way cool. I'm glad I found this thread. I just thought I'd share some good vibes about this fun truck.

We are on our 3rd Tacoma and 1st 4Runner so we did it kinda the opposite of you, but I'd certainly say that both the 4R and the Tacoma are awesome in their own way.

As I said, I owned/leased SUVs, sedans, and sport cars as well as a couple of trucks (but never owned a Toyota vehicle) and I like a lot this Tacoma. Maybe this mid size truck isn't the best in all categories, but I think it covers and does very well in most (if not all) my personal requirements: It is confy and has a nice cabin for daily driver, it has a reasonable bed for occasional work loads and as a hauler (mine has tow package) for even bigger loads. It has good visibility, size and maneuverability (and it also fits nice in my garage); feels sturdy and well made (toyo thing), and I think that right now it is one of the best vehicles in the market (price-wise) as for off-road capabilities (specially with the new Multi-Terrain select and Crawl control, among the lock differential (for my V6-AT at least).
Also I like how its looks, specially the high-tech headlights with projection beam lamps and LED Daytime Running Lights. As an extra note, its well deserved fame of high resale value surely add points to the formula, too.
On an aside note, after 1.5K miles on it the MPG starts to slightly improve.

why do i love it? it's not fast, it's not exciting off road, it's not quiet and it doesnt have the greatest transmission, it struggles with weight and it gets shit gas mileage. But who fing cares, i like going places in it, it looks cool, its features are pretty nice, its comfortable despite it's flaws. I have zero regrets buying it.

Man! Thanks for the breath of fresh air! 3rd gen Tacoma is a rad truck. I never once wished I was driving a Ridgeline, a GM, or a Nissan. If I had never visited this forum, I'd probably be even happier with the truck as I wouldn't be driving down the road trying to figure out if my diff was howling, or if that was just my imagination! ;)

    The Tacoma kills them all because;
    -Fun to drive
    -Looks awesome
-I always look back and stare at it for a bit when walking away from the truck after parking
-I can go almost anywhere with it
-has been reliable so far after 7k miles (for me)
    -so much aftermarket goodies

I couldn't agree more with the OP. I have had a number of fast and fun cars. This is my first time having a truck as my DD and can't be happier with my purchase. I know lots of people aren't happy with the 3rd gen, but I for one would refer any of my friends to buy one without hesitation. Just do your research and know what you are getting into.

I got my 2017 last week and I am in love. I drove a 2003 F150 for 8 years until I traded up for the Taco and it is like driving a spaceship compared to an old truck. Anyone who complains about some of the minor issues I see on here must be spoiled from driving new cars because this thing is better then my old F150 in every way and there is nothing out there that comes close to it right now in the midsize segment.

That's a good comparison: two Japanese midsize trucks. Very similar in building philosophy and size... can you be more specific?

HAHA don't worry Stockholder, rest assured that this "TW syndrome" will pass overtime. After awhile, you will recognize that your truck doesn't have all those recalls/TBDs, anormal squeaks, weird noises, lack of oil/grease from MFR, etc, etc, etc; and then you get used to know your truck better and really start to enjoy it without worries! BTW Nice setup for an OR...

Idk, in my humble opinion I think Nissan doesn't compare with Toyota in terms of reliability.

I sell Mercedes Benz for a living here in Birmingham and in my opinion they are among the best cars in the world. I drove home a GLE 350 last night because my truck was at the other dealership we have here, I had to leave it to pick up this car for a customer. I walked out of my house this morning and hopped in a brand new Mercedes Benz and it was nice, I love the GLE 350. BUT.....when I went back to get my 2019 TRD tacoma I may or may not have pet the dashboard. I was so happy to be back in my truck as I love it. 3rd gens are awesome.

This video was made in 2016. Do some research on the models since then. We were behind in a lot other than safety and ride quality up until then. We just released the A class and have revolutionary technology in that vehicle that will be incorporated into all of our vehicles. Do some more updated research and see what you find champ. Next video, search and find someone who has an opinion that hates or calls bullshit on your truck and see what you think??

You will defend it and disagree largely as I do with the chubby chap you just sent me.
