trailing arms, there was a guy on the LT thread who didn't have to go through his bed with the shocks and was pulling crazy numbers.

 

If you angle the shocks way inboard you can do that but then you give up a lot of road manners and on road handling characteristics. Huge trade off for the flex and not really worth it. Even linked and a more vertical shock like I'm doing you'll still get great flex but give up the truck aspect.

 

Trust me just keep the overload in with what you are currently carrying.

 

Oh that's a very calculated answer need corner scales as every truck will be different but a good rule of thumb is ~1/3-1/2 due to rake and the current balance point of the truck.

 

I am not worried about welding or even cutting through the bed at this point. I am looking for something with more flex than the 63s and 14" shocks. What is trailing arms and whats the difference between that and linked?

 

Trailing arms are a form of links. Remember Eddy's buggy the rear is trailing arms. Shocks/coilovers are attached to the lower links. Can run a shorter shock and get just as much flex as one a lot longer on the axle. There are some handling benefits as well.
