Yep, I'm a snowflake. In other words I've got too much to lose to worry about petty people doing petty shit. You're probably also the guy who drives in traffic with your handgun between your legs, secretly hoping someone will cut you off or commit a minor traffic offense so that you can teach them a lesson they'll never forget. Go get'em buddy.

I got a fun neighbor, so I have camera'd my whole house up, and my Samsung DVR has enough disk to record about 2 months before overwriting.

Some things about this video are kinda fishy, but I don't know the details so I can't form a valid opinion.

However, this is a great reminder of the Package Thief Glitter Bomb

    Nope.

But I assume you do the speed limit in the left lane.

    See how assumptions work.

That's my fence, the camera are all pointed on my property, with a little incidental coverage of the neighbors. Yes, it was a lot of wire pulling through the attic.

    Mind sharing details of models/devices?

I'm just starting home automation on this end (Samsung SmartThings hub) and would love to tie in a whole bunch of cameras, motion sensors, and flood lights. Maybe an automatically deploying taser or two.

This thread kinda went south... I'm not sure how anyone can put any blame on OP even if he was baiting them. I can only guess that this happened before, and he wanted to put an end to it. Crimes like these shift from neighborhood to neighborhood and bring down property value. Security cams and helping the police bring shitbags like these to justice helps bring crime down.

OP, GOOD FOR YOU. Anyone who gives you any type of shit for this is fucking dizzy.

The DVR is a Samsung SDH-B7404, 8 channel 1080i. It came with a 1TB HDD, and I put a 4TB HDD in it. The cameras are 8 Samsung SDC-9443BC. They are weatherproof 1080 Bullet Cams.

The quality is pretty good, the wires they come with are shit, so I ran new Siamese wire and crimped my own ends on. I also ditched the brick type power supply for the cameras and added a proper 10 Amp camera power supply.

The system went live around Thanksgiving, and this morning I have 2.4G free out of 3.7, so it looks like it will be able to record for about 4 months before it starts overwriting. It is set to record on motion, and it uses a buffer on all channels to pre-record, so if in senses motion, it goes back in time about 10 seconds and records before and throughout the motion event. Some of my channels, like the rear deck hardly ever record anything, but the front lawn and driveway record pretty much non-stop because of road traffic, my flag and trees blowing.

It has been my experience that people to refer to others as snowflakes tend to be the ones that get offended the fastest by a difference of opinion.

Wow man that setup looks clean! Can't you add some deadzones for the flag/traffic to keep those motions from triggering recording?

yeah, it had a grid over the image, and you color in the dead zones. I only colored in the water on the pool because the sun on the water makes it go all day.
