Yea I've heard the "horror" stories haha. I'll be topper-less if that's the only way to get one. About 1.5yrs ago I saw one in the size I need AND the color I need for $800. Needless to say, toppers in the Denver area are nearly sold before they're posted.

Anything that isn't white black or brown is typically a special order for a topper.

Have you talked to a body shop to see how much they want to paint a topper, or considered painting one yourself? Might be a much cheaper way to go if you want something other than black, white, or gray.

I kept browsing all the market places until finally finding one for $600 about a month ago. About 10 months of searching... Cost of new is insane

So for those that have found used toppers, have you traveled or are you just quick/lucky with finding one local? I agree, cost of new is insane. Not worth it, for me. I just want to have one to toss on in case we road trip in the truck, since I just sold the wife's 4R.
It would definitely not be on my truck full time.

Craigslist, letgo, offerup, facebook market. Keep checking these and you will find one. I found one yesterday for 250$ on offerup for my 2nd gen sb.

Just have to be lucky and frequent checks of CL, ebay and the market pages. Many of the top tier companies also have a cheaper line of toppers, like Jason, Raider, Century.

Timberline has this listed in their used inventory:
    • ARE V Series | Paint: 3R3 Red | 05-15 Tacoma Double Cab 6.5ft bed | $600.00
    and new:

    Leer 100R | Paint Code: 1G3 Magnetic Grey | 16-Current Tacoma 6.2ft bed | $1660.00

    This^^

Just got lucky and found mine local on craigslist. I even messaged used car dealers to see if they'd give one up but generally don't

I found mine locally on Craigslist for $300. My secret was having probably the most common taco color and not giving a _____ about it being in mint cosmetic condition haha.

Same. It will be used so infrequently I don't even care if it's not a match to my black.

I’m interested in your soft topper! I’d give you my white topper for a discount on your soft topper...it’s missing a side window and needs a bit of love but has potential...

I worked with S-Cargo to refurbish a used topper I got from a great user here on the forums. They sent off a snugtop to the factory for a paint match for $500. This included removing the windows that were attached with some special adhesive and required special attention to not damage the fiberglass. It worked for me because I was having them do other work to fix the hardware and electronics as well and the topper was free. So if you can find anything that fits, you may have options working with a reseller like S-Cargo to refurbish it.

You can set up an alert on CL to email whenever an ad with your keyword is posted. I did that for almost a year before giving up and buying a new one though. I was more picky about color and options than I realized I would be so I just bit the bullet.

edit: not sure if you're long bed or not but this one is a nice price: https://denver.craigslist.org/pts/d/conifer-tacoma-topper/6815192431.html

Same here. I never would've found what I actually wanted used.

Me either, having a slightly more unique color certainly wasn't helping

Yeah, I paid 300 for mine 2 years ago from a guy in Boulder. Cool old rich dude who was selling his old topper and replacing with a brand new euro style one...3k I think he said it was.
