I was wondering if anybody owns or has something similar to an Alu-Cab top. I know alot of companies make an aluminum top. From my initial search and one phone call with the local camper shell distributor, there is a concern with the carrying capacity on the shell. I am guessing this is part of the reason the Alu-Cab has such a high price tag.

    Thanks

I went to the Overland West show in AZ a couple years ago, saw more than a few companies doing hardshell RTTs. if you're really searching, go to their website and see who the registered vendors are. Sorry, I can't really remember any specifically.

Actually it is far superior and we are accumulating real-world testing data to support that. We are about two months out until full product launch...

Alright guys, for the long awaited announcement!
We are now an official RLD Design dealer! If you are not familiar with RLD, they are widely considered in South Africa to be the premium canopy manufacturer in the country. Their designs and features are very unique and far above anything else we've ever seen on the market. The canopies are all TIG welded and 5-axis press bent stainless steel and fully-powdercoated. They offer far superior strength and load capacity (over 325 lbs dynamic load) and are only about 20 lb.s heavier than the Alu-Cab canopies. Oh, did I mention they offer paint-matching?

They offer a full line of platform racks, side cabinets, drawer systems, bed slides, and a complete kitchen system with drop down side table. We are currently taking pre-orders and will have product available to ship by the end of April! Please call or email the shop for more info and for pre-orders.

    Here are some teaser photos:

I would definitely be interested in pricing for one of these, with vented glass in the windoors...
And preferably, without the side trim. I kinda need something flush...

Retail is $3,299.99 for short bed and $3,549.99 for long bed. All canopies come standard with sliding glass cab-side (front) window and full glass rear window. Canopies have a built in ventilation system that pressurized the bed to prevent dust intrusion as well (something we’ve never seen before but is pretty genius).

Available in white, gray and black powder coat (all gull-wing side doors are black). $400 additional for custom paint match.

Do you mean sliding glass windows in side doors? Those are $155 each. Not sure what you mean by side trim.

Kinda tough to see. A small kick-out on the sides, looks to maybe hide the rail caps?
I understand the one in the picture is for a Hilux, so, the Taco may be different?
Either way, I need to be able to have a mount sandwiched between cap, and bedrail, and come outboard.

AluCab canopies are phenomenal. Had one (coincidentally bought from the hypocrites at AdventureReady, which had nothing but amazing things to say about it before they got dumped as an AluCab dealer and started spreading trash about the brand on all forums).

Have a look at this video, from the ~5:30 mark:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=330&v=efu6tImdP-I

It's a BushTech conopy, but looks identical to AluCab in all ways. I've heard that BushTech copies AluCab products, and I've heard that AluCab copies BushTech products. No idea what the truth it, but it doesn't really matter.

Wow, that's absolutely absurd. Please point to where we spread trash anywhere? We were "dumped"? Man, you got some bad info. I'm sorry you have such strong feelings about this but I'm certain you have some bad info all around. Anyways, thank you for being a customer.

As is normal for our business (I cannot say this for ALL businesses), we strive to only offer the best products that we feel 100% comfortable standing behind in the long term. We are a very carefully curated shop and we were the largest Alu-Cab dealer in the Western United States. That view on what we fully believe in shifted for us last year in regards to Alu-Cab and we made the decision to move in another direction. I am truly sorry if that bothers or hurts any of our customers. That is obviously not our intention. This was a complex decision on our part but I guarantee you it was out decision and was made thoughtfully.
