New TRD Pro

was at Tustin Toyota today getting some info on 30k service when i bumped into the Blue TRD Pro......MFG Suggested retail was $47,875......vinyl on hood scoop....really nice......next to it was new Land Cruiser, black......it was $80,959....4-Runner, $38750 plus $2,800 for tires and wheels, Hilander $37,959......boy, really makes my 2016 (38k OTD) look good......but i do like the new safety stuff...

 

I hate the new safety stuff. I like to think I am competent enough to know if a car is on the side of me without lights blinking at me or smart enough to figure out how to slow down and not rely on auto radar cruise...

 

to each his own....i like the lane departure and I drive long trips and sometimes 12-15 hrs

 

Me too. I don't use it around town, but on those long trips it's great. I use the standard cruise control though.

 

If you're beginning to inadvertently move between lanes after 12-15 hours on the road, it's far past time you pull the hell over and call it a day.
No, 'to each their own' about it.

I hear you. It's just when I look at your avatar, I see an old man. Then I read your post stating that lane departure warnings come in handy after 15 hours on the road, likely at interstate speeds, and well...

Just saying, maybe be careful, for everyone's sake.

 

what do you consider “old man”......just because I dont have any hair may skew the appearance......i am far from being an old man.....you young whipper snapper......besides driving my truck all over the place, I ride my BMW R1200gs motorcycle to Atlanta and back to Irvine every year for the past 3 years......3 ½ days to get there and 3 ½ to get back......mot bad for what you call an old man

You know what's awesome when the TSS alerts you to "Brake!" for no reason at all

 

I turned off the lane departure alarm. Haven't had the need for one in the 37+ years of driving. Other people not so much maybe...Like when this ass hat came right into me in my lane on the freeway and neatly "removed" my side mirror! Yeah, the TSS radar has given me a near heart attack at least twice now. For what, I still don't know? I have used the new radar adaptive cruise control and actually like that after not thinking I would.

 

You’re human so you’re fallable like the rest of us. Of COURSE you “like to think” super highly of yourself (don’t we all?) but you are just as likely as the next guy to mess up behind the wheel. May not happen for 999 times but that ONE time that TSS saves you from a bonehead move that would wreck your truck or hurt someone, it’s worth it.

 

I have a 2017 highlander with TSS and my 2017 Taco without it. About a week after i purchased the Highlander, a car was turning right at an intersection, i was keeping my distance and i knew that the car was turning right. Well the highlander slammed on the brakes. It scared the shit out of me and the car behind me almost hit me. I believe that the TSS might be good for some people, but not for everybody.

 

That's Crazy! Based on the prices the 4runner is a way better deal. When I and my wife picked up our 4runner the salesman tried to get us to look at a highlander first. My wife was like I'm not paying this much for a van with a lift. We drove home with the 4runner. We still have the tacoma but the 4runner is a way better vehicle....unless you need the truck bed.
