An unusual thing happened today in Southern Oregon

Took the bed off of the truck and cleaned off all the dirt, fixed a few small odds and ends, and then gave the frame a fresh coat of paint.



I added an anderson connector to the power supply running to my bed. I had the cables cut for awhile so I could take my bed on and off. Now I can just disconnect the connector when I need to take the bed off. Pretty simple little addition but it sure will be nice to have.

 

Your build is awesome I love it! Random question but does that dakine tailgate pad work alright for your bikes?

We were thinkin of getting one but since the tailgate is so short we didnt know how well it would work.

 

It works well, but the bikes will occasionally flop around. I ended up making a rack out of 2x6'' lumber that drops into my bed when I need it. For each bike spot on the tailgate pad the rack has a slot to put your rear tire in. After doing this I don't even need to use the frame straps on the tailgate pad, it works great. I can post a picture of it if you're interested?

 

That would be awesome i love seeing peoples homemade bike racks!

You should throw in a picture of your bikes too for good measure.

 

Here's the rack. I put the narrow part between my wheel wells and the wide part by the tailgate. The two bikes all the way on the sides slot in-between that last 2x6 and the wheel well.

From my work... any chance you recognize these racks?

 

Did some half ass photo shopping to help me make up my mind on my rear shock setup. I'm thinking about doing this with an ADS 2.125 but not sure if I want to run that much hose or not.

Do your roads get salted in the winter? I'm wondering how the ADS hold up. I haven't heard anything about their resistance to salt/chemicals yet.

@TMFF any issues/downsides with running longer hoses? I remember seeing you post a photo or something posted that you extended their hoses for them.

 

The roads don't get salted in Oregon, usually volcanic rock is put down.

Haha! It's pretty great here in the Southern Oregon and Northern California area. We have 4 seasons and lots of mountains to explore.

 

So true. I rode up there a couple years ago when I was still living in San Diego. I was actually born in Klamath Falls. My mom lives in Redmond now too. I plan on driving the Tacoma up there sometime in the next couple years to see my mom and do some more exploring.

 

If you let me know when you're passing through I'd be happy to show you some of the best wheeling in the area.

 

Installed All Pro Standard leafs on the truck yesterday. Couldn't be happier with them. The truck rides much more composed and planted driving around town.

 

What did you have before hand? Dakars?
