Anti-freeze in the transmission fluid?

    Just a note,

    The dealer has now said the transmission has anti-freeze in it and is talking to the factory.

    I would assume for that to happen that your rad has suffered some damage?

    No damage at all. The driveline stared a vibration at 27 to 35 mph. Randomly. Not when acclerating hard but when you leisurely take off from a stop. Changed all the u-joints. It started again. Changed them and balanced the drive shaft. Still a vibration. Dealer says a new transmission was needed. When checking the fluid they found antifreeze in it. Told me they were talking to the factory about it. No news yet.

    Heard of this problem with the 3rd gen 4Runners but never heard it happen to a Taco...especially a fairly new one at that!

    Did you wheel it hard or did this just happen randomly? Oh boy, don't want my transmission to crap out on me! I want this thing to last me at least 10 years or more :mad:

    Hitch and wiring, aux back-up light, rear strobe lights, radio and underseat sub.
    New engine, new trans, new radiator. Accept nothing less. Coolant destroys AT clutch discs and engine bearings.
