I need some advice. On (3) separate occasions I have had my truck into the dealer for code PO11B62, engine coolant temp/intake air signal compare failure. Every time the light came on is when I had my truck plugged in, different temps Everytime. It is a OEM block heater.

Dealer is telling me it may do that, or it's "Normal" under extreme cold for it to throw a code like that, sounds like bullshit to me. Is anyone else that is using a block heater having this issue? Seems odd that I would have to have a code cleared Everytime I use the block heater.

I have attached a copy of the last slip from the service department.

I appreciate any help or opinions I can get.

I’ve plugged in my truck every night most of the last 4 months and haven’t had this happen.

Would you know the OEM block heater part number? Never heard of a code being set.

Absolutely, no reason for a cold to be set. You could be out driving in -30 to -40 deg F temps, engine will be at operating temp of 195-215 deg F . Shut truck off , how quick will the intake air temp drop and the engine will retain some heat? No codes will set when you start back up. Just a thought.

I agree, what do you think the next move should be? Open a ticket with Toyota? I was having this issue before the bumper to bumper warranty was up and has not been addressed.

We've had brutal cold but i've never heard of this problem. I'm second gen. but my co worker has a '16 & he had no problem. Hope you find a reasonable solution.

Yes, open a ticket with Toyota and speak with the factory zone rep. Your problem will be solved.

There was a recall on them
    And mine no longer workers.

Need to go back to the dealer about it soon. Been lazy.

But for your post, two winters with mine never had a fault or anything

    That is really interesting.
Per service manual the test only happens after engine has been off 7 hours or more.
Check is 536 seconds after engine start.
Air or coolant is above 14F before start.

The two readings must be closer than 45F or code is thrown. I could see a block heater causing this code.

Yeah i read about that, wired that a factory Toyota part would make the system act up, seems odd

If you don't want it to throw this code, I THINK that you can turn the ignition on for more than 20 seconds before you start, and this check wont be completed (per service manual I THINK).
(Note, obviously this isnt the right answer, but it may fix the symptom at least...)

So for normal key, just turn to ignition on and leave it for 20+ seconds before you start. For keyless, press start button twice without your foot on brake. This switches ignition on without starting.

See 20 seconds under time engine not running after ignition switch on below....

May I suggest plugging the block heater into a timer and have it turn on about two hours before your scheduled start up. This might solve your issue. Just a thought I would try and not too difficult to do so. I have used this method of preheating the block for at least 25 yrs and never had an issue. All of my cars and trucks had engine management systems. Please keep us posted.
