FINALLY getting the 91 octane tune next week. Been wanting it for smoother but better power and higher redline. However, I have questions. So the 91 tune says 25+ hp. Which leaves the truck at 300hp. I’ve seen somewhere that the higher redline also gives 20hp. So, 320hp? Torque around 290? Im guessing it gets more complicated than this (I know hp isnt important but I like numbers) and I should also be getting better mpg’s right? I get 12-15 normally or 18-25 on the highway, hopefully i can get better mpg’s in traffic.

Gentlemen, let me just tell you that 4Lo on 1.05 paired with 4.88’s and the URD stage 2 clutch and heavy flywheel is the tits. I can hit the clutch cancel button, put it in 1st and start the truck with ease. It will also crawl on its own without me having to jockey the clutch up and down obstacles. I can only imagine how much better it will be when the crawl box goes in.

You’ll be getting all 4 tune files simultaneously, lol.

The ~25hp gain is measured at the wheels, not the crank so I’m not sure what the final crank hp measurement would be.
I wouldn’t be concerned about the numbers if I was you. The truck does feel lighter on its feet and I’ve noticed about a 1mpg improvement. Is it fast? No. But it’s much more enjoyable to drive now!

Back to the numbers thing... these trucks will never be fast enough to earn you any bragging rights, unless you get Mat’s turbo kit and run a lot of boost haha

What size tires do you have to run 4.88?

I have 35’s. Lots of others run 33’s.

    Mostly stuff I built.
There are I think 2 guys running 4.88:1 with stock tires. Just depends on how you want your grunt to fuel mileage ratio to add up.

I would think 4.88:1 on stock tire size in a M/T truck would be overkill, unless you don't care about mpgs (highway). We're already turning almost 2500 at 70.

Im with you on the 35s. Put the 265/75/17s off my 02 ext cab on while Im waiting for my new 35s to get here and I can't believe how terrible the ride is... It's extremely harsh and I'm sitting on fox coilovers and shocks with remote resis. I gurantee a 70s pickup rides smoother haha

Also it's almost slower with the stock size tire than before for sure and I didn't see the slightest improvement on mileage. What I'm saying is buy the biggest tire you can fit /afford

Get some quality suspension and ditch the fox digressive crap. ADS, King, or Radflo are the way to go.

Well I mean I can pull 75 in second and it gets there way smoother and quicker. I definitely lost some bottom end but I think it's just the throttle is less sensitive and it's cold here

Paid 41k for the truck the way it sits and it only had 10,566 miles on it so I can't complain. It's smooth enough for me to wanna jump everything I get the chance to around here haha one day maybe I'll scoop up a set of Kings. But I'm content with the fox 2.5s and resis for now if I'm touching suspension first things for sure going to be progressive leaf packs. The blocks have the stock ones frowning already. It's got the bds 6 inch lift with the fox dsc's and if I was the one that forked out 3500 for a lift I wouldve been pissed whenwi seen rear lift blocks... For that iIwould've went mid travel for what the lift costs and I'd still have my crossmember in the front..... But all well like I said couldn't pass it up for 41k with the bds lift , fox suspension, method wheels, new BFG at 35s all the way around, leer cap with bedrug rigid light bar and pods, fabtech bumper.. And it's 6mt with a sunroof and power everything. With 10k miles. It's everything a 23yr old man could want! i still don't know how I got so lucky...

Exactly. 4.88 with 33 would be nice, but honestly, since the MT come with 4.30, even 33 would still be nice. I had 33 with my old 1st Gen with 4.10 and while it was ok, 5th was pretty useless, especially when you added some weight.
