Why OVTUNE poll

I pulled the the trigger for the tune today. Almost $800. I bought it mainly for the higher rev limiter and more power. Although I will appreciate the smoothness of the power too.

 

Watching, curiosity getting, surprised theres not a greater response...

 

damn i want one so bad, everybody i see on here that has it loves it, i'm just afraid i'd brick my ECU mainly because i suck at those kinda things...good luck man let us know what you think when you get it done....also i have no opinion

It's not possible to brick it.. you haven't been reading enough

 

I couldn't vote, because the original reason I purchased the tune was driveablity (and shifting is on me).

The Toyota calibration for M/T trucks was not "updated" until almost 3yrs into the 3rd gen production run. I bought my truck in October of 2015, and IMO, the tune it came with (04B10) was a terrible mess.

 

oh i guess i made up the 2 guys that bricked theirs and 1 guy sent it in to the guy ( matt i think) and other guy had figure something else out, been following the OVTune thread for about a year now, but i been wrong plenty of times in life, ask my 2 ex wives..anywho..on with the poll

 

Two guys that bricked theirs doing what? Techstream flash to TSB calibration or actually flashing an OVtune file?

 

They didn't brick their ECU by flashing the tune, they did it by flashing the TSB, which is completely different and absolutely unnecessary with version 1.05.

LOL dang this got crazy quick...never really figured out how they did just know they did, i remember when it happened it seemed like they were losing their minds ( with good reason) i'm not keen on computer programs, what does what, or even how to do most things with a computer,,, give me a carb and i got you, ask me to download a file to a computer and you might as well do it yourself because i'm pretty sure i'll somehow erase it or lose it forever...

 

I see you have the M/T...you want this tune I am not the brightest when it comes to computer stuff either but it is pretty straight forward if you can READ AND FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS

I'm sure you weren't born knowing how to rebuild a carb. You learn by doing. Computers are no different. Just like a carb, you need to get over your fear of making a mistake. All mistakes are fixable, and you learn twice as much by making them.

I suck at computer stuff too but there are instructions, and thats all I need
