    it's not that great when you want to listen to metal.. their artist selection is a joke and the commercials are ridiculous. It's only good if you want to listen to pop music or don't have specific tastes in music
    I've been meaning to look into this for about 5 years now.. no joke

    I think Spotify is ass!

    I've been using Pandora since it was a thing it seems but I'm ready to try something new. Pandora has been censoring a lot of songs lately.

    I've had 3 months of Spotify in the past, going to try Google Play Music next. Likely end up giving Spotify another chance.

    Everytime I want to find new metal music to listen to on Spotify it always puts on some metalcore band with way too many break downs... sorry but 0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0 on guitar for the whole song just doesn't do it for me. And when I try to type in stuff like "technical metal" or "power metal" or "melodic metal" spotify just goes "??????"

    That's fair, I don't know about their selection of metal. Their selections for country, rap, rock, and all the shit I listen to seems fine. It's pretty rare that I've not been able to find an artist on there.

    I've never had an issue with Spotify. Seems to have just about everything I listen to, and $10/mo is fine to avoid ads and play offline.

    IDK, I've been using it for a few years and it's served me well.

    I'm a cheapass too. I would rather selectively pay for specific music and directly support the artists that I like IMO. I have almost 5000 songs on my itunes and it's hard to give that up when I have immediate access and the ability to play/rewind/slow down/change pitch of songs for guitar playing

    That's a good point! I'm all about that ease of use, so Spotify makes sense to me.

    I’m with you. Not a top 40 pop person but also not an indie metal kind of guy either so Spotify checks a lot of boxes. Nice to download to the device too and have wheeling music off grid.

    Pandora does have better stations for music discovery and general variety so I use both depending on my mood or if I want something specific.

    Agreed. Being able to download for offline use, camping, and flying is make Spotify worth it for me.

    Yeah for music discovery I find their "Discover Weekly" playlist can be really hit or miss. I generally spend some time searching around through all the playlists. Playlist radio can work well though.

    Yeah that's the biggest seller for me. I've got a 120gb SD card in my phone, so I'll just save all the music offline for whenever.
