It's less Tacoma and more mod
Mine was absolutely ass when I first got it and it was stock still. I know yours is a ton newer so maybe this doesn't apply but I put a new cap and rotor on and saw a huge increase in available timing and it picked up a lot. And getting rid of my cracked exhaust manifold helped too for some reason, can't imagine why, maybe because I went with headers. I have just about every performance mod you can easily assemble on a 3RZ and it doesn't seem to hurt it's range. Other than that you'd think I'd actually get worse mileage without EGR and with my more primitive computer. I think it likes the newer 3RZ 4 hole fine spray injectors I have though. Supercharger doesn't really hinder the MPG if I stay out of the pedal but even then I blasted up some grades today and did pretty good. Downside is I'm running premium. My green truck (which I stole this drivetrain from when I rolled it) got 14 mpg for a lot of the time I owned it, and only at the end of it's life was it getting maybe 16-18. After putting it all in this chassis with 4.10 gears it picked up a ton even with my 33s and armor. I did my distance math off of what my GPS logged today too to rule out my Speedos error range

That's crazy man. And I was thinking my mpg was solid. It definitely improved after original tune up after purchase 2-3 years ago. Had to get rid of an error for EGR insufficient flow and also had the code for the A/F ratio sensor and that was fixed by the new Denso AF ratio sensor. The EGR error was fixed by new VSV under the intake. Can go hand in hand right? ECU runs engine rich for the EGR error to be safe and that can crap out your AF sensor and the cat right?

EGR can only function in closed loop so it won't run rich it just won't save fuel that it could if the EGR was simulating a smaller combustion chamber. Which is all it really does. It will run rich without the AF sensor though since it has to use the built in until augmented fuel map which is always pig rich for safety.

Damn...going up to Tahoe was a 480 mile trip for me (one way) and I had to fill up twice lol, and only had half a tank when we got there.

Driving through the desert though I had to maintain 75mph at least to keep up with traffic flow and anything over 65 just kills my MPGs, I actually I think I more miles to an all-city tank than I do all highway going 75mph.

I dont take into account the larger tires though so it's probably slightly better than it seems but it's still pretty bad. I think the lights on the roof rack kill me at those speeds too from the drag

About 8 hours each way, yeah. Half of the way up there was in 4x4 though from Mammoth all the way into Tahoe (about 200 miles) because the highways were all covered in snow

Man I wish I lived that close. I'm about that far from Mammoth though, maybe a little further. But it's just far enough to be too much of a drive to do on a weekend, plus the desert stretches of highway out here can be intense with the head wind and cross winds. Not fun to drive in at 75mph, about the only time I miss my sway bar lol
