Ill post here to what I sent you via PM/Text so that this is a knowledge base for others to search and find.

    Troubleshooting:

Are you waiting the minute or so for the red alarm light on your center console to go from solid to a steady blink before you try back to back remote starting?

    AND

Are you letting the vehicle do it’s locking sequence after exiting? Meaning don’t touch your FOB at all, let it lock itself?

For the times it has worked, if you’re able to use your FOB to unlock it while it’s running and open the door, then it’s not your TPMS or any wiring. My guess is your sequencing could be slightly off...that alarm one is usually the culprit but I also noticed you DID mention that it started and worked after it locked itself, hint hint. That is conjunction with or without the wait for the OEM alarm to set and arm before doing anything can also be the reason why you’re intermittent. If it worked once, it’s not (almost never) the device..

We’ll get you going one way or another but I’m almost certain I’m right. Intermittent problem have always been something a user accidentally forgot or overlooked, which is totally fine! :)

I sure hope they make some changes soon... frustrating that every time I really want my starter to work - it doesn't.

Just installed the remote start with smart phone module on my truck. Install went great, tested it without the smart phone module and it worked perfectly. Installed and programmed the smart phone module and ran into a few snags. It would initially give me the voltage and GPS and act like it was unlocking the doors or starting the truck but would go back to nothing, never operated anything on the truck, never gave me a run timer, and the lock/unlock status wasn't updating. Came back inside and switched the protocol to ADS and everything worked except for the timer. I could only start the truck once but if I went into the GPS screen, then back to the command screen and swiped down it would let me start the truck again. Switched protocol back to Fortin and it wasn't working.

I ran across the post by @Buckeye88 and thought I might have been a little too quick on the programming step so I switched protocol back to Fortin, went back to the truck, unplugged it and tried again with my newfound information. I'm happy to report that it's now working like a charm! Thanks everyone for all of the information and I'm glad I didn't have to bother Jimmy to get it working!

Taken from Jeremie @jmeitz, thanks for sharing, and pestering these guys. I think we all owe it to you dude...

    “Update:

Auto Mobility is in the process of testing an OTA fix for those of you that are having issues with 4g cell modules [paired with] the push to start [remote starter] timing out when the vehicle moves. I am hoping to hear something later this week about a release date.”

It's frustrating it's so intermittent. For instance, when I posted that message I was trying to warm up my truck - app wouldn't work so I had to use the remote. Later that night around 11pm, started no problem what so ever...

If there is an OTA update will we be asked to download and update or will it just install itself?

They’re wrapping up the code test on an actual Tacoma, they don’t want to prematurely release it and deal with hearing from @jmeitz and I again. So I say if they can take a few extra days to ensure the OTA update resolved this for us all, then so be it because keep in mind, sending something out that fixes one thing could also introduce something else and I’m sure THAT’S really what they’re making sure WONT happen. My OCD and nothing but perfection heart can’t bear anymore of this. They really made me look bad here.

On a side note, anything that’s gone out the past week or two as well as going forward won’t see this, so for prospective folks on the fence, none of this applies to you. You’re good to purchase without worry.

I’m in no rush as I would want them to make sure it works over and over again before being released. I have never doubted you or your products as this thread in itself shows your dedication and
how you stand by your products. We appreciate you and @jmeitz fighting this battle on our behalf.

Thank you sir, that means a lot and I appreciate the fact that you understand as well as the rest of the gang here. I wouldn't sell anything I don't personally use, in fact, this hiccup in itself would not dissuade me from selling it as nothing like this has happened before and it only affected Toyota and Lexus Push to start. It's bullet proof from the time it was CDMA, and 3G so I am certain that once it's fixed, it'll be a distant memory that we'll all forget down the road. It's truly a great product, and so if I had to give you all an analogy, it would be this...Microsoft Windows is a great platform, mega, right? How often are they forcing "Windows Updates" down our throats post release? Almost continuously as they keep discovering things...with my product, you don't get continuous updates, you get maybe one out of the box when fired up to ensure latest and greatest because they can't be certain of how long it was shelved. And that's it, as they enhance things, you may get maybe one a year...but not to resolve advertised function from the start!

I'm not in the business of taking peoples hard earned cash in exchange for small paper weights. That's not cool. I'd have no business to run if I did. The fact that everyone on here has rolled with me from the moment I fought to source them during the major back-order of 2018, and I made it happen despite being considered by some "the little guy" means I'm confident enough to sell it. I still am. Just unfortunate that it had to be a few on here...I truly feel ashamed because of it, and have lost some sleep, but I also know that it's not permanent or else I'd collect them all back, toss them and refund you all and throw in a gift card for the inconvenience. I lose, but you lost time and confidence in me and my product, that's the worst thing that could happen to me, and fortunately, it's not going to happen because everyone of you fellas are bad ass patient mofo's and not the "customer is always right" $hit we tend to see with corporate America. I'm not rich, I've lost on some of this, but hey, it is what it is. I need to ensure satisfaction. That's worth more than financial profit. Everyone who has dealt with me, knows the things I've done to ensure this, from surprise gift cards in their packages, to never blaming anyone for damaging my goods, just ensuring they get something that works. I've given gift cards to people who were at fault during install and I didn't know it at the time, big deal. They were frustrated at the time to almost take the path of blame on me...I don't want that. There are times I've dropped the ball on somethings, things that won't work unless an added component is needed and I overlooked...guess what, I ate the profits and sent it. It's not the customers fault, and I can't collect more because I MISSED something, that's bait n switch. Who cares about the loss, I actually see it as a valuable (and paid) learning experience for me that I now know not ever repeat. If the customer is respectful, and works with me, I MAKE THEM HAPPY. PERIOD! If a customer is yappin away and is of the disrespectful "I'm the always right type", then I'll still offer them the choices I would for a customer like you @tacomethis and treat them no different. I don't pick n chose who to do nice things for. You're all worth it. And I've said it before, this forum is FAMILY. Most of you have my personal cell. The only other entity that has this are my vendors/reps, and Toyota Dealerships. No one else gets this. I see you all as friends more than anything and you all have shown me the same love back. I am forever indebted to all of you here which is why this is THE ONLY FORUM I AM EXCLUSIVE ON. I am on NO OTHER TACOMA FORUMS. The mods and forum owner here have been more than generous to me so I need to treat their members and guests the same way.

This is how it works. I HAVE to do what I said I would. I HAVE to sell you what I promised to sell you and I HAVE to promise the function I advertised to you. So far this road here was bumpy and I am furious with the manufacturer for making me look bad, but on the flip side, Toyota Dealerships have been sourcing me lately so I guess that says something...because I KNOW they're reading these threads. They've told me.

We're almost there guys! I am sorry this has happened to some, but rest assured I am not leading anyone on! If the factory came back and said sorry, tough luck, I would have sent RMA's and REFUNDs a LONG time ago!

    Smart Module Update:

They are pushing the fix to Jeremie on this forum, this is the last step as they’ve successfully tested it on their end..once he says it’s good, or the factory says it's been enough time/days, we all get it. Thanks for bearing with us on this. The few of you (from hundreds out there) who experienced this will be fully operational glitch free VERY soon!

Giving a follow up on this, all is well. Nothing seemed wrong with the physical connections but the behavior seemed intermittent. The error in sequence I was making was not waiting long enough each time after releasing the brake pedal and opening the door.
