my truck wouldn't move this morning!!

So I woke up this morning, got ready to work, (I was the carpool today). I start my truck and let It get warm up, I get on It, released the hand brake, put it on D, and the damn truck won't move!! I tried for like 5 min and seemed like the hand brake was jamed.

So I called the Insurance company, the tow truck shows up, get ready to get my truck on, and guess what? My truck would move now! WTF was that??

I got 18 miles so I'm taking It to the damn dealer after work.

What do you guys think? Opinion please.

 

The parking brake probably just got stuck. I have heard of it happening in the winter but never in the summer. You might want to clean out your drums.

 

Just curious, why would you warm up the truck in CA in July? I barely do that in January in New England.

 

Maybe a stupid question, but did you shift back to park and back into drive? Maybe the shifter didn't engage or align properly. Maybe the indicator said you were in drive when the transmission was actually in neutral or park or something. Just a thought...

 

I could feel the tranny kick in to drive, but it just wouldn't go. like the parking brake wasjamed.

 

We the dealership will have to take of that. Hopefully that is the issue.

... ^^^ ... FWIW ... If your road service is through your insurance company (and part of your ins. policy) ... some insurance companies consider it a "claim" if you use your road service.

There has been a lot of static about that, especially with GEICO.

I warm up my truck in Florida -- year round at that! In the summer time I turn it on then come into brew my cup of coffee then I'm out the door. It's maybe 2 minutes of warm up time. In the winter time -- all 2 months of it -- I let it warm up slightly longer (maybe in the 5 minute range).

I do it b/c I think it's healthy engine management to do so. Just being prudent by letting the engine get closer to an operating temperature.

 

When did florida get winters ???

same thing happened in my old ranger, weirdest thing ever. i fixed it by shifting to 1st, then 2nd, then drive.

 

This may sound weird, but did you by any chance wash your truck and let it sit in the driveway until this happened?

 

Some one didn't wanna work today........... I mean your truck. You guys need some quality time together. A little wheeling should do the trick.

 

Well I'm doing cleghorn this saturday , and I did some dirt running last saturday

 

Well the dealershit told me my parking brakes are EXCELLENT! LOL
They also told me there was a recall for my truck so they DID it on my gas pedal They replaced my old one with a smaller one.
