    Pending a call to my insurance company, I'll get to the bottom of this, but it's been a circle jerk and I'm not happy with my insurance and Michaels.

    Long story short, I totaled the loaner tundra Friday night during the snowmageddon. See below. Reported the incident to both insurance and Michaels. Insurance said my deductible was waived. I asked the service manager if my Tacoma was deemed not road worthy, and he said they can't keep me from driving it and it was fine, and according to the pre coporate inspection Michael's said there was nothing wrong with my truck besides me "drilling holes in the frame". Which was later confirmed as frame rot by the corporate tech. Now Michael's is saying I can pick up my Tacoma to drive until the frame is on hand, as long as I sign a waiver and pay my deductible directly to them. I'll know more tomorrow, been too busy plowing roads to talk on the phone. Something about running heavy machinery around porsche's and benzos doesn't work for me.

    :frusty: if my truck was originally fine, why did I need a $45k loaner to total a week later? I would have rather totaled my $14k truck and bought a different one. They wanted to schmooze me over because of the shitty review I left them, and I took the bait. The last time they loaned me a shitty camry.

    So does this mean your putting a tundra motor in your Tacoma?
    :anonymous::ohsnap:

    By all means sorry about the miss fortune man, seems like you cant get a break this year. On the bright side, your getting a new frame for your truck, and you don't have to pay out of pocket for the tundra!

    Looks like you caught a rock or gaurd rail post just right on a downhill fish tail.

    You don't need the loaner, but they offer them if need be. When I had my rear diff serviced because it was weeping fluid, they gave me a new 4runner (which to me, sucked compared to my 3rd gen but that's a whole 'nother story). However, since they were doing the diff recall parts couldn't be had until about 3 weeks out. I was fine with driving the 4runner for a while but when it started to rain ash here l didn't want that ash to pile up on my paint and mess it when it started to rain. I was able to get my truck back since it was still technically safe to drive until they had the parts in and I had service from them.

    As for loaners, unless you had a special set up with your insurance or if you paid the dealer's insurance I think you'd still be on the hook for the deductible. I ended up totaling a brand new (300 miles on it) mercedes loaner one time but I decided to get the insurance (I had recent string of bad luck) and didn't have to pay a dime, nor did my insurance rate go up.

    Sorry about that bad break. It seems like when it rains, it pours (or dumps snow).

    Ugggh, teenage drivers.....o_O

    My daughter’s boyfriend thought it would be a good idea to drive his FWD Honda Fit over to our house. The mains are plowed, but our little slice of heaven back here makes it almost necessary to have higher clearance at least, and ideally AWD/4WD.

    Yep, he got stuck. Helped him dig out and get turned around, which took 40 minutes. Of course he is wearing shorts and little Ugg moccasins, so not exactly helpful in the snow. Best part? He didn’t tell his dad what he was up too, so he’s pretty pissed.
    :bananadead:

    His dad showed up right as I got him turned around and heading out. We did talk on the phone beforehand and I said give us 30 minutes, then we’ll call for reinforcements. He felt I shouldn’t have to help fix his son’s poor decision, so I can respect that.

    Poor judgement for sure, but in the grand scheme, not a terrible experience for him to learn from. The only thing damaged were ego and calories. Best way to learn to drive on the snow is to go out and get stuck in it. But only if you are prepared. Ugg moccasins....:rofl:

    Lol. Sounds like a chapter in the teenager right-of-passage book. We've all been there for better or worse. A little quality bro time with the daughter's beau shenanigans. Daawww.
