Yesterday morning my son’s school was on lock down while police arrested a student that threatened to bomb and shoot up the school. Last night the kid’s friends threatened to shoot up the school today, the police are investigating. The kids making the threats are seniors, I hope they keep them in jail for at least a week. My son does not want to go to school today, I’m not going to make him go.

 

My Lord man. They need to make sure these kids aren't holding any firearms at home.

 

The one they arrested did, and apparently one of the parents guns are missing. I’m sure it’s just kids being stupid, but you have to take these thing seriously nowadays.

 

Yeah man, very seriously. Sucks for your boy.

 

The school said they have it under control. They also said Austin police will be in numbers at the school today. I’d rather they arrest everyone involved, joke or not.

Sadly, gone are the days when our walkin to school enemies were mud puddles, big dogs & cold weather. Glad I was a kid, when I was a kid. Hope he comes to an understanding that perps are the enemy, not the institution.

We would just pull the fire alarm and call it good.

 

That happened at my school during my freshman year. The dudes had threatened to kill anyone that looked at them funny (they were the only white students). The county judge signed a warrant, but after not finding anything they were let go on probation.

 

Damn skippy they have to be taken seriously....A fellow TWer, @Tantaco37 has a son who was at the School in Western Kentucky where 2 kids were killed last year. It seemed so far removed from the realm of possibility until a split second AFTER the first shot was fired. Steve can tell you better than I just how serious these things can be.

 

From the email last night. There should be no “may” be detained, they should make examples of these kids.

“Please emphasize to your children that all such threats—made verbally or over any social media channel—are investigated immediately. Students may be detained or arrested on a charge of making a terroristic threat, even if the threat is not credible. “
