I have a 2017 4x4 long bed, I bought it slightly used. I see on my Toyota account the original owner kept bring it in for transmission issues and rear end issues. I bought it with about 7K miles and it was pretty good, I got used to the tranny, but the rear end was whining. they did the tsb, and put springs and all that on but it was still whining, they finally put a new rear end in it and now that seems fine.
The transmission is a little weird, but ok... however, I made a thread about how it hesitated before slamming into reverse the other day, so I took it in for the 20K mile and told them about it and they put new software in the transmission and said the fluid level was perfect.

Now it drives a little different, I barely touch the gas and it down shifts, and feels like it is hunting a bit at low speeds, not bad, just different again.

I am at 21K miles, in a year I will be running out of basic warranty. Should I cut bait and trade it in on something else? Or do you think they will get it sorted and it will turn into an awesome truck. I have had about 8K of warranty repairs in the year I have owned it, and I am really worried about the warranty running out.

Nobody can answer this question except you.

Seriously- here's how this thread will go:

10 people will tell you OVTune will change your life
4 people will tell you to get a Tundra
3 people will tell you to push the ect sport button or whatever
6 people will tell you that you have to drive it like a car
2 people will somehow end up sending jberry nudes and getting banned
And right when the 100 angsty 2nd genners show up to shit on 3rd gens, the thread will be locked, and you'll still not have anyone else make this decision for you.

Toyota thinks they fixed the issue with tsbs and are unlikely to do any more. If you're ok with the truck now, keep it. If you aren't, ditch it. Its your wallet broski

E: I forgot the part where I tell you to get a manual so you arent at the mercy of how someone else thinks your truck should shift :cookiemonster:

Try the ovtune. If that doesn’t work, trade it in.

You’ll lose money on trade in.

Sell it. It's not the right vehicle for you. Or keep it, and stop obsessing over the shifting.

    Nice!

And don't forget....trade it in for a Ridgeline.

That comment was not directed at you OP.

Often times when you're fishing for King Salmon and using expensive mackerel on the lure, you should never cut bait, just reel it in and use for another day.

Extended warranty maybe? See if you can get Toyota to extend your warranty first for no cost?

Honestly, I can live with a quirky truck. If the interior rattles, and the transmission shifts poorly, and the engine makes noise like an old chevy with a bad exhaust manifold gasket (mine does all this)... I am fine, if it is going to go the long haul and not leave me broke down, or just broke from repairs.

With $8,000 value in warranty repairs in a span of only 14,000 miles, I'd be trading that truck in so fast....
Very unusual for a Toyota. Unacceptable for ANY make, IMO to be brought in for so many repairs before it hit 25,000 miles.

The original owner kept bringing it in for transmission and rear end issues and traded it in with only 7,000 miles.

    He got rid of it.
The answer is staring you in the face.

Bait should never be cut. Use it whole, otherwise it may fall off the hook.

As for your truck, trade that shit in. If it’s giving you this many problems right now when it’s relatively new, imagine the headache you’ll have later when it’s much older and worth a ton less.

hoping they will eventually get it worked out may not happen, causing you more frustration in the long haul. I'm all for getting something fixed, but it appears this one vehicle just wants to put up a fight all the way. At this point, cut bait, move along, get something new(er) and see if it puts a much longer smile on your face.

You forgot about the 3 people who will tell him that it's just the way it is and suck it up and stop whining.
After all, it's not like your last [xxxxxx] (BMW, Volvo, Corvette) etc.
