First Tacoma, its my wife's daily. Will be used to tow a 3,000lb trailer some. I have an Edge Insight in my Duramax, so I am use to being able to monitor dang near everything. Wondering what is the best way and if its even necessary to watch the trans temp? I would like to while at least towing. Seems I read that the Edge Insights don't play well with Toyota. Also, do not want to use a phone app to monitor. So, any other options?

    Scan Gauge II for me.

I have one in each vehicle. If you sell, move it to the next vehicle.

And there are 2 temp readings in my little trans, it will register both of them, should you decide you need both. (I don't)

Ultra Gauge is another product some folks seem to like, similar in nature. I have no experience with that though. Started with my SCII in my SCCA car, and stayed with it.

I bought one NIB from someone who went a different direction, bought # 2 off eBay. No problems with either one.

I used to have an ultragauge in my 80 series land cruiser and loved it. Looks like according to their site, the Ultraguage MX will do Tacoma trans temp post torque converter as well as pan temp.

I don't have personal experience with the ultragauge on my third gen though. Just wanted to be clear that I would maybe check before purchasing.

Scangauge2 is what I use. Trans temps on left. Just leave it plugged into the OBD2 port.
