    Just trying to get my N/A ECU reflashed to the TRD SC tune, not swapping in a new ECU.

    Ahh gotcha, my bad, didnt read enough.. Do you have an extra ecu, or is that your only one that you have?

    If the dealers in your area are unwilling to reflash with the TRD tune (which mine were in TX), then your best bet is to buy an extra ecu (make sure the part number matches yours perfectly) and then send it off to someone who works at a dealer and is willing to help you out. Then once you get it back, you'll need to reset it (using procedure i posted above) as it would have learned the immobilizer from the truck it was flashed in.

    Long story short, if you dont leave the ECU in your truck and have it reflashed at a dealership, you will have to reset your immobilizer if it's reflashed somewhere else

    Thanks for the help brother. I just got off the phone with another dealership a couple hours away, vice ten minutes, that said no problem $250. I am trying to shame my local dealer into why someone else can what they cannot.

    No problem,yeah it's hit and miss as far as i can tell. The ones near me all told me they dont even have access to the techstream software to reflash it anymore (I call BS). Pretty sure they arent doing it around here for liability reasons, could be similar up there near you.

    Since it is a two hour drive to get the tune, I have no issue with 250. However, any issue with driving back two hours on the TRD tune without having put on the SC until Inget back home?

    Also , i would double check and confirm with dealer, via VIN # that the dealer can flash TRD tune. so you don't waste your time/gas/money

    AAA 100 miles tow, not sure if thats available in your area.

    +1. Probably should have included this sentiment with my post.

    TRD tune is solid, if a bit rich, and cheaper than another ECU.

    The problem with doing this is that itll be tuned for 455cc injectors but it will still have the stock ones installed. I see this as a problem, but im curious what others think.

    I'd install then get the tune. I drove to the dealer after my install.. just stayed out of boost the whole way there.. no issues.

    I feel your pain! When I upgraded my GT500, I had about a 40 minute drive from my garage to the tuner. It was one of the slowest Interstate trips I've taken, especially in that car. The drive with the Tacoma was considerably shorter, but just as slow.

    It's less about RPM and more about acceleration (how hard/fast you push the right pedal) but, FWIW, I aimed to stay below 2000 RPM. You'll be OK if you just take it slow and steady.
