Place across from work has Blantons for $59.99, is that a decent price for New England?

That's retail price down here, if you can find for that of course. Most places are more like $90.

It’s very smooth, put a couple fingers in a glass and goes down good.

    I would recommend it.

Going to Vegas next month to celebrate my birthday and am going to a fancy place to eat some nice rib eye. What would be a good whiskey to pair with this? Preferably one that a bar would carry.

What fancy place are you going to? Maybe they have a drink/whiskey menu on line? Would be nice to see what they have.

Holy cow. I went to their website, curious to see what a fancy Vegas steak house would have to offer for whisky. Right away on the main page is a lineup of various Pappy's. Clicked on list and downloaded a 43 page whiskey menu pdf. 43 pages. I didn't look at them all (would end up hating you), but did look at the last 2 pages - The Last Drop. Feast your eyes

If it were me I'd get something distilled in my birth year or before it (I've never had a whisky older than me).

What's your main squeeze, whiskey wise? Looks like you've got a world full of options at that place. Got a unicorn you've been chasing but can't quite catch? Now's the time!

I'm still a whiskey amateur. Thought the stuff was disgusting up until about 6-7 months ago. My pallet changed and whiskey is my go to for almost all occasions.

Not looking to spend $100 for a single glass of it, but would like to have something to nicely pair with my rib eye.

I currently like black label, jack, crown and bushmills, but I feel like these are just generic liquor store grabs. I'm hoping someone can provide me with a nice suggestion for my special dinner.

Personally I like scotch or high proof bourbon with a steak. Something smoky, wine finished, or big and bold will hit the spot for me. I recommend you find a local whiskey bar or a whiskey nerd buddy and try to sample a few different drams before your birthday trip... that way you can be ready to get something really special should you want to.

You certainly don't have to spend 100 bucks for a glass of great whiskey, but what you don't want to do is spend 20 bucks on something you may not like at all.

You never know... if you try a bunch of stuff and get into whiskey more than the casual drinker, you'll be mad at yourself for not getting some of those rare pours they have at that steakhouse.

No whiskey nerd buddies here, just my wife and I. :(

Whiskey is roughly $12 glass at any bar near my house anyway.

    Dammit that blows.

Of those whiskies you listed, would you say one is your favorite right now over the others?
