    Hello,
I have a 2015 DCSB TRD O/R 4WD 4.0 which uses the same H11 bulb for the fog lights that the 3rd gens use. I'm not looking for HID's or any complicated stuff. I'm looking for something like these Diode Bulbs. Seems simple enough & at a good price.

I considered doing the H9 light bulb mod, which is a high beam bulb, but everything I read says they don't last long.

I see this post is over 2 years old. Are you still using these bulbs?

    Thank you.

This thread is old and people have started to realize what a bad practice this is. See this thread, LEDs in a halogen reflector cause significant glare and loss of projection:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/why-leds-should-not-be-run-in-halogen-reflectors.454371/

For an LED replacement, you need to replace the entire housing with one designed for an LED. Most all the LED fogs available for the Tacoma are covered here:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/the-led-sae-j583-fog-pod-fog-light-review.554813/

For a more indepth review of the LED vs Halogen differences see this thread:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/3rd-gen-hid-vs-led-vs-halogen-h11-projector-headlights.589465/

You should only run your fogs when needed, not all the time. So short bulb life should still last many years. But you don't want to run an H9 in the Toyota fog because the H9 has no glare cap on the bulb, so you emit massive glare. Unless you do the Subaru housing mod that has a built in glare cap covered below.

See my post with more info, and the last few pages of the thread here:

If you wanted an upgraded plug and play H11 bulb replacement, the best performing bulb is the H11 GE +130 which is slightly whiter than stock. Available for purchase here (once back in stock):

Yeah, Diode has a new model out now though called SLF thats designed specifically for fog light bulbs. You need to be careful when putting an H9 in a socket designed for H11. I believe the connectors are slightly different.

Science doesn't care about gens, but yes the wisdom is a bit less prevalent in 3rd Gen.

Thank you for the info. I will definitely read up on these posts. That H11 GE +130 looks like a good option. As for running the fog lights, I did the "Fog lights on with park lights mod". Since my truck is lifted I get oncoming traffic constantly flashing their high beams at me even though I am using the stock 9003 low beam bulb that my 2nd gen came with. I drive mostly city & only use my park & fog lights. People must assume they are my low beams due to the height & cops have never stopped me for it & there are a lot of cops here.

I realize this is a 3rd gen post but we share the same bulb part # for the fogs, H11. This is why I am not inquiring about low beams here. I know that the 2nd gen fog light lens is glass. Is this the same for 3rd gens?

"Specifically designed for fog lights" sounds like I won't blind oncoming traffic. That a plus.

3rd Gen H11 TRD wide angle fogs are basically the same ones in 2nd Gen 2012+ trucks. 2005-2011 have a different H10 assembly.

Just like the others are “specifically designed for headlights” and still blind oncoming traffic unless used in a projector.

OK. Are the fog light housings in the 3rd gen projector type?

Do you know if there's a difference in part numbers between 3rd gen TRD wide angle housings vs non-TRD standard housings? Or is it just the bulb that is different (H11 vs H16)?

The assemblies are different, they will have unique part numbers.
