last and only 1 I've been to was in my home town of Salem Oregon, it was a good one lots of people, so this next one will be my 2nd one, will enjoy both the rally and Nashville then off to Niagara Falls for a night or 2 and then back home to central California (Exeter) my 1st big trip on the bike after I retire in May.

Threads like this make me sad that NC is so damn strict with their tint laws. They even hit it with the light meter every year during the inspection! :(

Again, Madico is a name brand like all the others. They have a top tier film and a lower level film. Our shop owner used to use Madico film. I have had several cars tinted with it i am sure. The shop i work at is the same shop that used to do my tint work before i went to work there. As long as you get a top tier film, be it ceramic or carbon you will be fine. But ceramic is definitely the way to go if heat rejection is your main goal.

Ps, am i the only one in this thread that does tint for a living? Just curious?

I've had 5% on every car I've driven since highschool. I consider dark tint a safety measure in FL. Road ragers are less likely to get amped up if they can't see what is going on in your car. And FL is the capitol of road rage.....

Far less strict than other states. For a truck/suv, only the front windows must be legal (35%), all other side and rear windows can be whatever.

Yeah I don't know if my Madico film is the top tier or lower level film. I would like to think it is the top tier because this tint guy uses it all over the country on buildings. Seems like if he was putting lower tier film on the word would get around and he would not have the work he has. Pretty confident in the guy because he has over 35 years experience. Took him 1 hour and 5 minutes to do the 5 windows on my truck. It was 34 degrees the day he put my tint on and I only saw 1 water bubble. It was visible for 3 days and I was surprised it went that quick because of the cold weather.

most "reputable" tint shops/installers use quality film. most, if not all of the fly by night, gone next day shops use cheap dyed film. someone with that many years of experience isn't going to risk his reputation on using cheap film. our owner has been in business since 1996 but he tinted for another guy for years before opening his own shop. he has about 38 years of experience in all. I have only been tinting for last 8 years or so, but my boss is actually the guy who I used to take my cars to. literally every car I have owned since 1994 has been tinted by him (until I started working for him). if you can tell me what the name of your Madico film is I can find out for you if you want?

I know that other states are even worse, but it's that 35% figure that screws me up. I'd prefer to have everything match the stock 20% on the rear windows. My OCD demands uniformity that the laws simply won't allow...lol

Just got the fronts done for now until more funds come in. The shop I'm using uses Expel. I got the XR Black Ceramic 15% on the front and going to do 30% on the rear in a month or so. The fronts ran me 130$ out the door and looks great!!

It's not illegal for them to install it and they inform you that you could get a summons.

Depending on the cop's mood I could get a fix it ticket if I got pulled over but I see tons of people out here with all the windows tinted.

The front doors are not very dark, I've seen many people with darker and I wanted to have a difference between the front and rears just to kind of reinforce that. Also if you get pulled over you want to roll down both fronts, if not all of them.

The front windshield is barely noticeable, it looks like it's darker in those pix because of the side window behind it.

Orange county CA, and I'd bet LA is similar.

And As you saw in a few posts you quoted the guy who's talking about not getting near 500-600 is telling someone here 525.
Either people are full of shit or they are giving you half the story.
I was getting 500-600 to do four doors, rear window and sunroof.....the front windshield they would want another 200-250 more. A neighbor told me about a place in san diego county where I was at 5 to do everything, with the 3m crystaline on the front windshield.
