Hey guys I recently went off road with my truck and had a blast. Even with less than optimal tires it handled mud and slippery rock well! Now my engine is making all kinds of noise that wasn't there before. Here are a couple videos demonstrating the noise. I’ve narrowed it to the ac compressor, ac idler pulley, ps pump or possibly the water pump area? Any help is much appreciated!

sounds like mud got on your belts and may have aggravated old bearings and caused belt squeak. I would try a good clean of the engine bay first.

Thank you for this. Now to research how to clean the engine bay correctly lol. I think skids would have helped...

You can use a garden hose, just don't drench things like the battery posts, fuse box, or alternator. You can quickly spray them but don't hold the hose over those areas. Or really any area. You want to use the least amount of water possible, so quick back and forth motions are all you should need. The degreaser and Armor All foam will be doing the bulk of the cleaning work for you. The initial rinse is simply to wet/loosen the dirt, the second is only to remove the degreaser.

If it's really grimy and gunky, you might need to get in there with a toilet brush or something (but get a new one, lol).

I like to use that foaming cleaner for the really grimy stuff.

Tired cleaning the engine bay. I still have the squeak/chirp. I’m starting to think
It’s coming from the water pump area.

Your aren't running any skids? I sure hope you at least have the stock front skid on especially if you're offroading...without anything there you have the oil pan exposed and that is begging for disaster...

The noises sound like dirt has gotten in your belts, should take care of itself but cleaning everything up should take care if it sooner

@rogerman by any chance did you replace your fan bearing when you last did your water pump and timing belt. I've heard that they can cause massive damage if it comes apart with no warning.

Well I've solved this problem by throwing a bunch of parts at it. I just had the timing belt and water pump changed in addition to the fan support bracket and AC idler pulley. I'm not sure which one it was but now my truck is purring with the throwout or pilot bearing in symphony lol.

did any of this noise appear to be resonating inside the cab behind the passenger side dash
    or isolated to engine compartment?

Negative. I could hear the noise from inside the cab but it was isolated to engine bay.

did it only happen at certain engine rpm speeds?
or get significantly louder (i have a rattle that only happens at 2.1k rpm through the gears trying to diagnose but sounds on the passenger side inside)

The chirp was bad upon initial start up and would subside some but still be present. I have an annoying ass rattle near the passenger side when I near 3k rpm but goes away after 3.5k. I'm fairly certain my catalytic is toast

I also saw your post on this annoying rattle but it's not a "metal can rattle" as mine.
