I changed my oil on my 2017 Tacoma @22000 (3rd oil change) and found my oil filter cap was extremely tight. I used a motivXtool for the cap with a two foot extension on wrench. Didn’t realize it until I have reinstalled the new filter and oil that the cap had a hairline crack. Luckily I checked for leaks prior to taking off down the road. I went to orielly’s and bought an aluminum housing to fix it. Has anyone else ran into this issue?

All the time, it’s a known issue, lots of threads on it. Some members actually break pieces off the stock plastic housing since it’s often tightened beyond spec.

Keep an eye on the Aluminum housing for leaks, some have been known to.

I will probably stop by the dealership and pick up a plastic one for s spare. Definitely was a pain cracking the first one but that was tightened by the dealership. I’ll be doing the maintenance from now on.
