It "should". But remember, even 1.03 shifting was enhanced with ECT.

Hopefully not. I would want a refund if every time I upgraded it would fuck it up like an Iphone

So E85 is an equivalent to 108octane “or so” we should be able to reap the advantages right? :) smiles per gallon!

Hey fellas, if Mat recommends clearing DTC via software or battery disconnect for future flashes, would there be a break in period post flashing? I tow a trailer with my truck and want to make sure I’m following the recommendations. @OVTune

Must have missed that it was a wheel speed sensor rather than some other calculation method. Honestly, I wouldn’t put it past Toyota to have multiple methods of calculating. This thing is looking much more like a black box of electronics these days.

As others have said, this has been implemented in other platforms. One of the really nice features is valet mode where rpms are crippled, or some other method to keep attendants from going Bueller on your ride.

It's most likely a tune that specifies a mixture to run, such as 33% or 25%. @OVTune care to comment?

E85 (being the most common ethanol blend referenced) uses more fuel by volume to match the power gained from, say, 91oct. When I was in the speed3 community, it was common to run a 25-33% e85 + 91-93oct mixture when tuned, and I did so as well.

That being said, i do feel like the people who would benefit most from something like this would be anyone who goes with boost and is seeking a power goal. For daily driving...... it's just not ideal or all that great in my experience. Also, do we know if we can run 100% ethanol? Technology has certainly advanced greatly, but even on 33% e85 I had to clean my HPFP and lines on a semi-regular basis.

Anybody who is obsessed with fuel economy and low maintenance, this isn't for you, unless the information that I have is severely outdated. But if we could run a high ethanol blend, or pure ethanol, I'd think it would have been noted by Toyota long ago.

If I'm wrong, please let me know

If the button just maps to a different tune, maybe it could be directed to the useless Qi charger button to change the tune.

If it's controlled by the ECU that's a possibility.

IDK how in depth Mat has looked into this, but I think vehicles that are advertised as being able to run e85 include a sensor to detect the % ethanol currently being burned. This tells the ECU how to behave, adjusting timing and injector volume among other things I would imagine. I have no idea if our trucks have that, but I suspect not. The other thing is o-ring and seal compatibility in the fuel system. I seem to remember Mat saying it wasn't an issue on the 3rd gen but don't quote me quoting him on that.

Lets not get too many crazy ideas. When working with ethanol, a Flex Fuel Sensor is always a good idea and will be implemented.
Happy Valentines everyone. Our once yearly tax time sale starts. Recent orders who missed this will be credited
