I've had my new TRD OR for 3 weeks and 300 miles. It is the first truck I've ever owned and after 33 years behind the wheel I broke down and got an automatic. So, what do I think? I have always had sporty cars that accelerated and handled a turn well. I also love rowing my own gears. An automatic truck, what was I thinking? It rides better than I expected, accelerates pretty slowly comparatively, and handles, well, like a truck. I like the idea of what it is capable of doing. Getting out into the woods a little further and all that. But, my last car, a VW GTI never really limited me too much there. Without a bed cap it has less storage space too. I like it but I don't think it is as good as most cars for 90-99% of what most people will use it for. It is kind of a one trick pony really. Off-roader or work truck. You have to live with it being worse (on-road) to enjoy it when it's at its best (off-road). As I said, I'm enjoying it so far and have already gotten a little off the beaten path. Will I be a truck guy when it's time for a new vehicle...only time will tell.

Have you considered a Honda Ridgeline? You'll get the best of both worlds, on and off road. :D

I’m not trying to troll. I’m also not saying I don’t like it. I’m hoping having a truck with its capabilities will inspire me to go a little further out there and it’ll all be worth it.

Mine is a daily driver/off road machine. It definitely isn’t ideal for daily driving, but hey who wants to drive a boring vehicle all the time. Just rolled 105k miles today on a 6hr drive and it still keeps me satisfied, 14mpg and all.

I feel you man, I came from a lightly modded MKVII GTI and it’s funny how with my DCLB Tacoma I have less practical space inside, less sophistication, worse mileage (by a lot), way less road driving enjoyment etc.

The thing is, I love the damn truck.

Get out there and drive it more! I put 300 miles on mine in the first two days, let alone 3 weeks!

I just got rid of my GTI (gen 7) as well. There is quite a difference but I had a Tacoma before the GTI which may make the transition easier for me. Certainly miss that turbo.

Mountain States in Colorado... good place. It's where I bought my 2017 TRD Pro Manual.

Like I said before... go trade in for an MT before it’s too late
As a car guy, you’ll be a lot more content with it in the long run. I thought I was “satisfied” with my SR5, but 4 months later I’m rowing my own gears again lol

Mountain States was great to deal with. That Pro is a beaut. No deals on those though.

I love reading threads like this. Shows how many people don’t appreciate a good thing when they have it. Probably not even when they lose it. Waaaaaaaa my gold brick has a dent in it lmao. Aight I’m done.

I hope I do love it. I plan to do my best to find out. I think it’s an excellent vehicle it just may not be for me. I wouldn’t have bought it otherwise. We’ll see. I do understand why people love them.
