Recently installed Bilstein 6112/5160 with AAL and attempted to mount 285/70R17 Cooper STT Pros and they rub at full lock..

T4R trails wheels and stock UCAs,

Which one has to go and why?

The tires. Unless you want to chop the cab mount. If they are rubbing on the uca you should either get spacers or wheels with more backspacing like the scs wheels. But even when you push them out they will likely rub you cab mount. I had 285s on mine for a while and went down to 265/75/16s.

    Edit:changed offset to backspacing

CMC and remove mud flaps for one front and rear. UCA may help but you will need to add more Castor 2.5+ but 3 is best. You may also still need to trim some fender liners. I did. Get the CMC and flaps and check your castor. Will prob roll fine on road but will rub off road. Thats when trimming liners was needed. I just hacked as needed on the trail with a knife.

oh yah missed that. The stock wheels may be too close as well. Spacers will solve that. good catch.

Thanks for the speedy replies gentlemen.

Picture for reference. 265’s on the truck.

I cleared the 285’s very easily in the CMC area and the rub is very slight on the UCA. However I am interested in SCS wheels anyway so I may just hit the trifecta and replace UCAs, do the CMC, and swap wheels, the 265’s are just too skinny for my tastes:spending:

I’m fairly certain the scs website has a chart for the amount of backspacing needed to clear certain tires. Or maybe it’s on a thread around here somewhere.

That would be awesome to see, I’ll try to locate it. I’ve had my eye on the Ray10’s and F5’s since I bought the truck

Since you’re running a 17” wheel you could go with 275 and split the difference. If it’s only minor rub and full lock would worry too much about it. Spaces are fine but will increase chance of rubbing in cab mount area. I’d just go with uca and then go from there.

That’s the way to go. I like A4D31C7F-3309-4696-BBA5-1453023E3CC2.jpg all the scs wheels.

I think that picture settles it. I’ll get after some UCAs, and then try to land a set of the SCS wheels or something with comparable backspace/offset

I just stepped up to 285x70x17. Have SPC LR UCA, CMC, BFH to pinch weld, and minor trimming. Then went and flexed it to see what else needed to be done. I am happy with the results now.

The Camburg UCA's showed up on the front porch today and I just bought a set of SCS Ray10's tonight, so hopefully those will get here next week. Couple more paychecks and 285's will be going on:D

Gentlemen, the new shoes are on.

Minor fender trimming. But do need to shave some metal off of the cab mount, it is very very close to working at full lock.

Now for the novice question; Is it necessary to cut the cab mount or could I just grind it back a little with an angle grinder? (I don’t know how to weld) Only real concern is excessive heat on the cab mount. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

I would do the chop. I forget who, but someone sells a pre fabed plate for it. But it’s not super expensive to get someone to cut it and weld it for you. 4wheel parts quoted me $100. I wouldn’t worry about the heat on the cab mount, it seems to be what everyone does.

    Edit: those wheels are dope!

You will new the cab mount chop and some more castor. Maybe even some trimming on liners if you wheel it good.

    @nudavinci64 @Brent2014

Thank you guys! I will try to get hooked up with 4wheelparts ASAP, unless I catch one my rig welders with a TIG rig on their truck:D. super stoked to wheel it, and will trim any plastic that I need to in order to get more articulation.
