Don't get me wrong, I do a fair amount of "you should know better" myself. Just be careful.

Coming from the guy who recently got a ticket for riding a slow wheelie downtown in front of the Alamo.

Got pulled over by a chunky park police officer on a bicycle.

I dunno about "good" but I haven't gotten a speeding ticket in my truck in years. It's saved me countless times. Not that I'm a speed demon, sometimes I'm paying more attention to traffic than my speedo

I have a crappy one but it's saved me a few times. It's also had a few times where i'd have been in trouble if i was speeding.. just considering a better one and curious what everyone's got

Is your speedo off at all with the 33s?

Kinda depends on what you consider "best"

That could be most sensitive in which case i would argue the Valentine 1 probably is best there. But there are others out there help filter out false signals like supermarket doors, or that blind spot monitoring crap that is on all the cars nowadays. Also have GPS stuff on some that will tell you the speed limit, and also filter out more false signals over time like if you pass by the same one three times it will remember it's a bogey

Yea it is. Math says it's 7.5% off so above 65 I just assume I'm going 5 faster. Above 80, 10 faster. So on and so forth. I'm not going to recalibrate it.

Don't spend too much. A cheap one is just as good as an expensive one. They all use the same principal - make a noise/light up when it detects a signal. DETECTS. So it's dependant on the strength of the radar/laser. The Valentine 1 will tell you what direction it's coming from but if you read the manual for any radar detector, they usually tell you how to figure it out. Most modern radar detectors filter out the lower x-band from automatic doors and blind spot sensors and the like.

If it starts weak and gets stronger gradually, you're approaching them. They're either stopped or moving in the same direction.

If it starts low and builds quickly, you're approaching head on and they're moving.

If it's instant, you're screwed, it came from the side.

Get one that will alert you to jammers and you'll be good to go.

I'm not sure yet. Didn't really look at the ticket. He got me for "unsafe operation" but I'm going to dispute it. The was nothing unsafe about it. But it was pretty damn stupid of me.

in my 5spd, its off by like 14% it shows fast though so ill be doing 70 and it will read 80

Probably not gonna spend much on one, but will probably upgrade at some point. Mine constantly goes off for the blindspot monitoring. Drives me crazy sometimes when i get stuck behind someone

Wait did you change it to KPM :D

That's a good man, I'm pretty spoiled since my wife never really wants to celebrate Valentine's day, but I try to spoil her here and there through out the year, she appreciates that more

Is that going off of a good GPS or math?

Does yours have the option to reduce the volume by 50% after a few seconds? Mine is about 10 years old and picks up a lot of car sensors. I don't even react to x-band in the city. Some smaller towns still use it so on the highway I'll double check the speed-o-meter but honestly, I don't even notice it anymore lol
