Thoughts On These Mall Terrain Wannabe Sliders

Only reason in the world I gave them a look was for door ding protection.

They don't look too bad, and their aluminum so they would be light weight and not rust.

I'm a get what you pay for kinda person, and at that price...I'm concerned about the quality.

I bought my “stainless steel” side steps for about 225 and haven’t had any issues yet. They’re a really low quality stainless but the powder coat is good

 

these are not sliders, cannot support the weight of the vehicle.

 

He only needs for door dings. I’m sure they can support that

Parking lot sliders

 

Has anybody here actually installed sliders/steps, parked next to another car, and done a few tests to see how they protect from door dings? My money is on "not at all".

 

I have actual sliders on my 4Runner and Tacoma but never tested them for door dings. I would think they should work for front doors but not most rear doors

 

Ive been sitting in my truck and watched a lady open her door to haphazardly into my truck, saw her face when she realized her door was damaged. They work. Well, some of them do, and some of them dont. I think ive only seen a few that dont protrude far enough. In the back i have kick outs so i know theyd work.

Aren’t these aluminum? They should be fine.

yes BAMF with kickout plus the lift, go ahead open that door really hard.......

 

I have the same ones. I can see where other have failed from the small marks in the sliders

 

But then you would have scratches on your sliders

 

A lot of SUV rear doors will go right over the top of your sliders and still ding the truck.

 

only if they are lifted...

 

Stock height SUV doors easily clear the sliders on my truck with a 3” lift.

This is the right answer. Park next to a Ford Exporer, Honda CRV, or Toyota RAV4 and take a picture using the slider as a leveling point. Most SUV doors will go right over sliders.
