I like the tires so far. Any of you all thinking about getting these here is a piece of advice.

If you DO NOT want to hear your tires while driving, DO NOT get these tires. They are noisier than I like but I can always turn the radio up! It is a truck and it is going to take some getting used to! You can definitely hear them!

I have a few weeks left to ride on these but may consider to trade these in on some Nittos. Not sure yet! :(

You can def hear a hum when driving. I either got used to it or it went away after a couple weeks. Don't even notice it now unless I'm TRYING to hear it. Or my wicked flow drowned it out!

I am still happy as fawk about my duratracs!

Just got duratracs put on yesterday. Love'em but the jackass at the tire shop stripped one of my lug nuts and didn't tell me. Found it checking the torque on the new wheels today. God am I pissed!

    Few questions...
    1. what tire size, load range, etc
    2. make and model of tire

few responses from a Manager for Discount Tire...
    1. the weight was cut because those weights are specifically designed for toyota wheels, and we don't carry every size weight by the quarter ounce.
    2. Depending on which tire, either A. it was possibly coned wrong, B. the tire is lined up with the heavy spot on the wheel, which can be easily fixed, C. if you're not happy with the quality of the work, then take it back.

Discount Tire is focused on customer satisfaction. If you're not happy with the work, then take it back. If you don't want cut weights, then they can use a weight thats used for all "import" style wheels.

I just got my BFG A/T's on my Tacoma (sticking with what I know works well) - and their customer service was great. Their warranty was a bit more than another place I got a quote from and even after already having the work done, they cheerfully and quickly matched the price. I'd use them again in a heartbeat.

Alright, I know I'm new here, but after reading 16 pages of this thread I still don't have any concrete answers. I just bought a used '08 TRD double cab, shortbed and I want to put new tires on it. I won't wheel it hard, but it will see on-sand beach duty and plenty of highway miles chasing surf on the East Coast. What's the best tire I can get for decent fuel mileage and good float on sand?

I've got a lot of experience with wheeling through the club I'm a part of http://vtxs.org/, but no one uses AT's. We all use some variety of mud terrain, so I've got some insight there, but I know BFG AT's are the benchmark for use on sand worldwide. Have you guys found that they really reduce fuel economy and if so how much over stock (with an automatic trans)? I was hoping to get 20mpg with the new truck. Thoughts? Thanks.

V6? What size you planning on mounting? I get over 20 on the highway with either of my sets. 1 set BFG my kms on trd fj wheels 265 75 16 other set is stock tacoma off road 16s with Duratracs sized 265 75 16 around town/mixed, more like 17mpg. with 4.0

RCBS, It's a V6. I was planning on buying 285/75R16's and going with just enough lift up front to make them fit with no trimming. I'll likely end up using a small set of spacers if need be. I just spoke with a guy in the expo club to which I belong who wheels his taco hard. He told me he's got 285's in a km2 and the OME 3" lift. http://redbarnengineering.com/CamPod.html

I don't want a mud terrain tire as I won't be using the taco for wheeling, but I think that size will work well for me.

I just filled it for the second time, the first time I was able to get any fuel economy #'s and I'm at 20.27mpg with a mix of on highway and local. I'm just hoping to stay in that neighborhood. More than likely, I'll end up buying BFG's, maybe Toyo's, I just didn't want a tire with any tread on the sidewall like the Duratracs appear to have. I'd rather suffer a little in the performance area than fuel. If I air down, I'd imagine most any tire will be fine on the beach. Thanks for your response.

economy will suffer with 285's. try to find a lightweight tire for milage. report back on what you end up with and economy please.

I find the Goodyears spit up too much stones and get lots of gravel stuck in them.
I would still take them over the BFGs.
I use a Hercules Trail Digger now and they are awesome. Way cheaper too.

New guy here... Got a 2011 Sport crewcab 9/10/10, looking at sum 265/70/17 BFG AT"s, if i put them on before a leveling kit will it still look ok afterwards? Last TAco was 04 with 3in lift and 255/85/16 reg. cab. Great truck but time for an upgrade. Had BFG MT"s on it, loved them but got noisy and ruff in the end but that was 85,000 miles and still no flats or problems. I have found a deal on Nitto Terrra Grapplers but no experience with them either? Any help much appreciated!
