    IMPORTANT UPDATE:

So, I am not a big fan of the TSS system anyway, but on the way in to my office, about 15 minutes ago I just had an issue that was severe enough that I will absolutely disabling the system. I will also probably be bringing this to Toytoa as this was dangerous. It is snowing very heavily here this morning. I was on a smaller 2 lane road with no cars in front of me headed either direction doing about 40 in 4WD. Suddenly I had the beep and BRAKE on the dash and brakes were applied automatically ON PACKED SNOW. It only lasted maybe 2 seconds, but was enough to be scary. I am not sure if it saw blowing snow, or if snow/ice fell off the truck in front of the sensor, but either way, that is a major failure that absolutely could have caused an accident. The only other time I had an issue similar was passing on the highway when it saw the car in front that I was about to pass. This was different as there were no cars in front whatsoever. That is not OK.

I would disable the system, too, if that ever happened to me. Have your Toyota dealer apply TSB 0059-18 and you can have TSS permanently off if you choose.

I will have it done the next time I am in. Until then I will turn it off when I get in the truck. I also contacted Toyota.

Meh, fair point. Conversely, can anyone procure evidence to support the utility of TSS? It was the opinion of manufacturers that this technology would be useful. Though I doubt they have any good evidence to support the claim.
