Thanks for all your input. I just heard from the service advisor that the manager approved the repair under warranty and I'm taking it in tomorrow for them to clean the headliner. Early Christmas I guess.

I just got mine fixed. My service advisor showed me some TSB bulletin that came out I believe July 2018 about this issue.

I was giving you less that 50/50.
Glad they helped you out, and good on the dealership. Send someone their direction.

    Add me to the list...
3 weeks and 3000 mikes past warranty...
    Contacted Corp...
They want me to take it to the dealer for diagnosis then there going to decide what to do but since my warranty is up I'm concerned they won't do the right thing and fix a problem they know exist and even have a TSB for.
A new truck should never leak.

If all else fails take it to another dealership and ask them in good faith if they can fix it. Hopefully corporate does the right thing. Good luck.

    Yep I hope so too.
The dealer said bring it in and they won't charge to diagnose and document the problem so I can submit that to corporate.
    Crossing my fingers.

Local dealer told me to pound sand on that at 36,500. Wasn't interested in fighting about, just upgraded to a MESO Customs light. I hate fighting warranty work, always a huge PITA.

So I just went to look for a crack or any damage on the light and all looked ok but I noticed a small gap on top of the light and when I put my fingernail and lightly pulled I found that one side of the light pulled away an easy 1/4" ...
Guessing they over torqued it and broke the mount...
This is very frustrating and toyota should fix this known issue.
Trying to keep my cool but I'm very pissed.

I feel for the people who were a mile over 36k and the dealers aren't making it right. Mine started leaking around 30k (luckily I guess) and I had to have the whole headliner replaced due to stains. My dealer only asked if it was in an accident or if I installed a roof rack. Said nope and they took care of it from there.

I don't see any stains yet but the dealer says they are going to fix it as a goodwill repair.

I had noticed an odd musty smell in my 2017 truck for a month or so. There are no stains and nothing feels wet or damp (I have felt every inch of the truck but nothing feels damp). As a precaution I did add some black outdoor silicon around the third brake light. I did a good job and a real thin bead. Cant even tell it is there up close. Just enough to seal between the truck metal and the black housing. Will let you know if that takes care of it and the smell goes away...

What exactly is the failure point that causes this leak? I’m starting to worry mine may start to leak and I’m approaching 36K, although I did buy the platinum warranty.

I have an AM cab rack, bed rack and RTT. I’m guessing the bed rack (thus the RTT) will have to come off to fix it?
