This mod will be one of my first, not sure I need to mount that many accessories though... so far I can only think of two, but I agree with @SigBoy on the drilling everything since i will have it apart already.

I am thinking of doing this standard, either this or a hole in the center but this seems like it would be better because then you don't have to worry about being able to fir the ends of the cable through the hole...

Love the baofeng mounting, what are you using for the ram mount? Are you able to fit a 15 inch whip in that spot or smaller one?

This would be great!! The only suggestion I would have is somehow have it to where there’s no gap for dust to go through and in the headunit area where the cable goes through. Maybe a rubber piece around it or something. Definitely would be interested in upgrading mine if that’s the case.

Just a note that the HU has a fan for cooling, so dust is going to be drawn in and around that area regardless. Also, even with all holes drilled and stupidly getting a full coating of dust throughout the interior by wheeling with the rear window opened, there was very little behind the trim.

How is that for removeability for use? Or are you using an external mic?

I use the wired mic that came with the radio. It has a PTT switch in line.

I am told there are bluetooth adapters that you can get, which would be very cool. Maybe down the road.

We tend to BS quite a bit on the trail, so even a specific slide in mount would be cumbersome. There are these if interested:

I think that was post earlier in this thread?

That's perfect! My baofeng mic was a little under the weather...probably need to pick up a hand mic anyway.

Yeah. I don't see my original lasting long term. A clipped hand mic would be cool also.

Yeah not sure which baofeng you have but that's about the same price as the radio itself :)

I'd say I need to stop talking to you but it's doing wonders for the truck

I got the BF-F8HP this summer. These are an incredible deal, so putting some money into making them better is no big deal. I snagged the programming cable last month. I just need to find the local information to jam in there.

I am happy to spread the good words, but dayum they hurt the wallet. I hope you got the discount on the other stuff. I am hoping to feel some of that, but we'll see.

Got mine today. A black Sharpie took care of the silver stem.
