When I last spoke with Pete in January, he explained the Steve made 2 sets. 1 set was finished and fitted to Pete’s trucks for Sema, and the other set was taken back to Australia for Steve to start production. I know for sure Pete is offering them in raw polished stainless steel, but not certain on the powder coating option. Pretty sure that’s something you’d be able to handle in your own on a custom level to fit your taste. I’ll Be the first to admit that “I hella dig it”, but at the moment can’t justify paying that kind of cash while my front locker sits uninstalled under my desk collecting dust.

Im sure they do if you order direct from in-house fabrications, however I believe Peter Sloop is the primary US vendor, who is willing to eat the Air Freight costs. I could be wrong, but I’ll ask Pete to clear it up

The snorkel is cool but that air box looks like its 20 pounds by its self. Looks like its made from a piece of 8" black pipe

That air box is only for the F-350. The Tacoma one utilizes the OEM sealed box

Oh! That's interesting. I would assume the connections are all water tight? Still a lot of money but I do like the style and durability. What about the intake? How does that look?

Haven’t got a look at the guts, but my best guess based in Stephan’s work would be a black 90° silicone elbow clamped to the air box.

Yea, I was thinking the same and I suppose it has to step down in size a bit to get through the fender. Maybe two pieces. I am running the K&N open box intake and I like it but puddles scare the hell outta me. I left the little scoop thing in the fender hole and have it pointing back, not down or forward. I wanted as much fresh air as possible from the fender but not any of the water. I still have my fender liners too.

I find myself completely convinced on 35’s for my next tires & I live in the dustiest area in the nation (gilbert, AZ) but I don’t want to deal with a snorkel, hate the way they look and I would find myself constantly worried about the exposed wheel well intake... we keep trying to figure out different intake positions...

But what about adding an in-line pre filter, inside the snaked tubing coming from the air box to the fender and then adding some sort of screen to the fender opening? As long as the filter and screen aren’t too restrictive, I’d imagine it’s not an awful idea? it might actually be just as “flowy” as factory inlet tubing but covered by the fender liner.

I’m looking for alternatives to a snorkel as well since removing my fender liners to accommodate 35s with a fender trim. It seems there are some good ideas for the 2nd gen since the intake is set up differently but I’m not sure those ideas will work with the 3rd gen. Has anyone been successful with any type of reroute? Has anyone plugged a CAI and made a new hole or redirected to a ram air only? Any info would be great. I’m trying to avoid adding a snorkel but I’m also paranoid with the way the intake is exposed right now.

@mesojdm So what do you think the chances of your “Franken-snorkel” fitting on a 2nd gen? Trying to find a snorkel that will work that isn’t so bulky.

Not the first time I have seen or heard a request for a @mesojdm snorkel ;) maybe the more requests he gets the more chance we have of him making one
