Yep, blame it on someone else instead of just accepting that shit happens when conditions are not ideal.

It'll cost him more to hire a lawyer than to pay for the damage.

Don't try to blame me for your legal system. If there are laws in place that you can take advantage of, then you'd be a fool for not taking advantage of them. If OP was in the reverse situation, he can be assured that people would try to get money out of him for this, which is why the gas station has INSURANCE.

Not really something a lawyer would be interested in. There is no bodily injury so nothing of value. Its $3,200 in property damage.
Working up the case for a day and filing it would cost more than $3,200.

You watch too much TV lol

The defendant will generally be required to cover legal costs in instances like this, and that is assuming that they don't settle right off the bat, knowing that it WILL cost them a lot more than the repair cost to defend. Probably what would happen is OP would phone them up to make a claim regarding damage to his vehicle due to their failure to maintain safe access, and they would just hand it over to their insurance, or their plow contractor (who would in turn hand it over to their insurance) to cover. I really doubt that this would go as far as needing a lawyer.

You might be a fool to not take advantage of them but at least you’d be an fool with integrity and character.

Check car-part.com for a door. You can save some coin if you DIY and either get a color matched door or have the door repainted and some body blending if you cannot find a door in the same color.

In most states defendants are only required to pay legal fees and/or expenses if it is jury or judge determined, which means it has to go through the whole litigation process. Or it has to be written in their insurance contract to cover attorney fees.
Seriously, if the OP could find an attorney to pursue such a case it would take 5 years and at least $50k in expenses to get there.
And a jury can go any way. Just by the attitude from people you have seen here a jury would be pissed to have to waste 2 days of their lives for jury duty over a $3,200 property damages case let alone award litigation expenses.

This would be considered Small Claims (most states its under $10k in liability). Small Claims was invented so BS like this doesn’t clog up the court system.

I’ve seen personal injury cases taken to trial with $500k rewards and Defendants were not required to pay atty fees. Its very very rare to ever get that. Even in very high profile cases but it depends on individual state law.

Sorry this happened to you. Here’s to a quick and acceptable fix

The snow disappearing from your front tire tread marks makes it seem like they were locked up as you were going into the pump. Just saying..

Also, trying to figure out the trajectory and the forces that would lead to that tire pattern....

    Good luck.

    Good eye on that.
And to dig deeper into that pattern on the ground... how come is the back wheel misaligned with the tracks that are apparently made by the back wheel? How the hell fast was OP flying into that gas station?

And I also notice pink stuff in the scrape on the door. Looks like the door was already made out of bondo? Not the first time that truck has been crashed in that manner.

Gas stations, by their very purpose, MUST in the very least, be LEVEL. I don't think they could be certified otherwise, since it wouldn't be safe to fill vehicles on a non-level surface.
