Well I was eagerly awaiting my new 17” pro rims and 265/70/17 bf ko2s all day at work. Love it, couldn’t of turned out better. Such a big difference from the regular highway tires and sport rims. Forgive the dirty truck lol.

Yes, our '17 DCLB came with one when we bought it used in November. It's since been replaced by the A.R.E. shell and is sitting in the garage waiting to be listed on the "Georgia Classifieds" thread, Craigslist, etc. Just waiting on a friend to let me know if his son wants first dibs on it or not.

Happy with it. It's snout the least expensive hard tonneau I have seen.

Looks awesome, I was just sitting here pondering my tires, with 4 quotes in front of me. Love the look of the BFG's on your truck!! I might have to follow after seeing yours!

I forgot, here are two more shots I took from the stealership. I’ve always wanted these tires since buying my first Tacoma in 2008 but never felt like spending the loot. This truck is pretty much what I’ve always wanted, maybe some billstein 5100s to level it out and I’ll be happy. I love this thing, I can definitely feel the difference in weight with the bigger tire, but I did have all the old sport rims in bed. I’m going to be looking into selling them too. Well, Ill probably get the pro tail lights and would love the headlights but damn on the price! Who am I kidding, I’m always going to want something else hahahahah. Anyway here are the other pics.

It looked like a pretty nice design, but not all that waterproof unless you do a lot of work on the front of the bed to seal-up the header piece, end and other gaps around the front corners of the bed. Of course, this is probably true of any tonneau cover on a Tacoma; just a horrible bed / header design by Toyota. I can't for the life of me understand why they created so many migration paths for water into the bed on these trucks. Because the header leak issues I could never really figure out if water was getting in other places because I pulled the tonneau, did a major weather-sealing job on the header and bed rails and then had the A.R.E. shell installed. It has yet to go through a downpour so I don't know how effective the weather seal A.R.E. installed might be: I just know that water isn't getting in anywhere else, that's for darn sure: https://ridingtwoup.wordpress.com/2019/01/10/a-r-e-z-series-shell-installation/

Anyway, getting back to the cover, like a lot of trifolds the only limiting factor is having to take the thing off if you need the full bed length since the 1st segment is technically fixed in the flat position and the other two segments fold up on top of it. It is what it is.

It's definitely secure when it's closed and the bed is locked.

Ours came with the push-button LED spots in the ends of the access lever assemblies; nice feature if you don't have bed lights.

The aluminum top is sturdy but it will collect scratches and dents if stuff is thrown on top of the cover: ours has those courtesy of the 1st owner.

Pretty easy to move around, install and remove single-handed.

Well today I did the led upgrade on the interior lights and license plate lights also tail hitch cover to match truck

I did the vinyl to my stock rims until I decide between the Gray or Black SEMA's.

Looks Good!! I ordered some Gunmetal Fuel Vectors, should arrive today, then I just (about 5 minutes ago) ordered the BFG KO2s. Had them before, never been disappointed.

Thank you that does help. I think for the price difference I'm gonna go with the Falkens. Now I'm just going back and forth between 265/70 and 265/65. I'm staying with the sport wheels and I'd prefer to keep my mud flaps so I'm not sure if the /70 is worth the risk. I think price wise they're close.

Today's quick project was a "cheap-screw de-chrome" of the rear view side mirror turn signals.

I had a partially-used roll of $10 TrimBrite Blackout Tape sitting around from other projects and decided to see how it might work on the mirrors, noting that the current de-facto / go-to mirror black-out solution is still on back-order and, well, $100.

Here's how it went down: Starting point with chrome, pulled the signals from the mirrors (see mesojdm's ME-SO Customs website for a how-to video; don't drop your unless they're 3M coated!!) With the signal out and thoroughly cleaned, I split the blackout tape down the middle since only two 1/2 width strips were needed, noting this tape has similar properties as shrink wrap tubing in that when you heat it up it bonds and conforms. The two strips of tape were laid down with a firm pull on the lens in line with the edge of the chrome, noting it has some compliance when cold. Don't over-work it. Once you have a good line heat it up to activate the bonding / conforming properties. I just held it under my halogen work light on the drafting / work table in my office. A hair dryer or, for those who can use them and do-no-harm, a heat gun also works, but the tape doesn't need a lot of heat... hence the caution. Trim away the excess that overlaps the foam seal on the light assembly and go on to the other half and repeat the process. Pop the light assembly back into the mirror housing, press the cover back on and you're done. Less than an hour for both mirrors and less than $1 in material., no fuss and no muss. From two feet away, they look pretty flawless and the black satin finish of the tape looks right at home on the Tacoma. Note, if you want to see larger images just open them in a new window, delete the sizing code: ?w=400 and then hit enter again. This works on any photos I post and size limit.

I may still go with the MESO Custom lights once they're available. again. His assembly has a really nice, factory look. These look great from a distance but to anyone who's into cars with a trained eye, they'll recognize the chrome blackout tape technique, at least until the sun bakes the tape a bit more. And, yes... I thought about splitting open the light and applying the tape to the chrome on the housing, under the clear lens. But, for now this is good enough.

Love the truck color! Digging the blacked out tail lights as well. Been in both 82nd and 2ID. Sure miss jumping out of a perfectly good airplane at times.
