Grinding noise in 4wheel drive after cv shaft replacement

Maybe pull the front driveshaft and see if it stops.

 

...just isolate diff from t case

 

the front drive shaft doesn't spin while in 2wd if it has the ADD system

 

you need to put the truck on jacks and isolate the sound. First just put up the front end, and spin the wheels individually so you can tell if its either of them, if you hear nothing then put the whole truck on jacks and have somebody slowly give the truck gas in 4L, while you listen for the sound.

The only thing that turns in 4wd that doesn't turn in 2wd from the diff area is the ring and pinion. and driveshaft

Holy fuck is that the brand new CV? you've got an issue if it just exploded right after installing it.

I was just confused on why the old one failed right when he installed a new one on the other side. Maybe they were both pretty weak and the old one failed because the new one was stronger? either way go get a new CV. A lot of guys here install the ones from NAPA because they have a good warranty, but its up to you.

 

The passenger side broke which is the pic. I replaced it. It’s hasnt broke just have a grinding noise after I installed the new cv on the passenger side

 

Ohhhh, I thought that you just figured out that the CV that you didn't replace was the grinding noise, my bad for confusing everyone.

 

Did you examine the old oil for shrapnel?

 

Yes all normal wear all sand like shavings. Nothing out of the ordinary.
