I'm only 2min into researching it, I have before but can't remember. I'm pretty sure there's 2 codes and when they both are present it's a 100% indication of sai failure. If you're only seeing one, that's probably not enough to get it replaced under extended/enhanced warranty.

I'm trying to find the tech/corporate memo sent to dealers that explain the diagnosis for a sai failure.

Hmm I wonder if the recent weather and short commute are the possible causes to make the valve stick open or close

I forget the exact codes but one was definitely valve stuck open and the other was random misfire. There was no ECU flashes or anything like that.

Has your truck had a buildup of snow around the cowl? Seems like water intrusion to the sai can cause failure also.

@Stanky taco 2442 is stuck open on bank 2, there might be something screwy with the plumbing to the air pump comming from the driver's side. Bank 2 in the driver's side. What I'm seeing is for a positive failure in Toyotas eyes, 2440 and 2442 need to be present representing a failure at both bank 1/passenger side(2440), and bank 2/driver's side(2442).

Yeah 2441 is stuck closed on bank 1 vs the stuck closed 2443 bank 2 @Stanky taco has. But was that the only one you had present and they replaced it?

Yes. That was it. But is was done before the letter and paid for by the extended warranty. So I'm not sure what the outcome would have been with the letter and no warranty.

@Stanky taco do you know the date of first use/production of your truck? Is it a late 2012 production sold as a 2013? My truck was produced in 9/2005, and date of first use is 11/2005, but it's a 2006 model... You might be able to argue a replacement under extended warranty program with corporate if it was produced in 2012. :notsure:

Yeah but if it was manufactured in 2012, it would lead to believe it was produced with the same faulty parts as the previous model year, but vin'd for 2013. It's hard to argue with corporate when they only know what's in front of them. The last corporate person I talked to was baffeled that my truck was produced in 2005, but the VIN shows it's a 2006. After some explaining and a beer/15min conversation she finally understood that a 2006 isn't manufactured on January 1st 2006. I was |-| this close to asking for her supervisor, and getting up to grab another beer.

@Stanky taco do you have this mess of shit on the passenger side valve cover on your truck? Probably hidden under your intake?
