    I will be installing a lincoln mark viii fan in my toyota tacoma in the next few days. I will be using a dakota digital pac-2750 fan contoller, a 70 amp relay, and a 30 amp relay. I have searched and searched only to find a lot of people have done this modification but few have posted how they did it with pics. So thats what I plan to do! I hope this will help someone out there that plans to do the same. Thanks and cheers!

    I have my Mark 8 fan in the garage in line behind a bunch of other things. I will be watching and learning from this post.

I will go ahead and post the progress, along with some of the other things I will be using.
    - 10 gauge wire
    - 14 gauge wire
    - 1/8 in flat rolled steel
    - 4 post terminal block
    - 70 amp fuse block
    - 30 amp fusible link
    There is more!! I will post other things as I progress.

    So here is the progress! I've gotten the fan motor mounted to my fan shroud. I'll tell you keeping the fan centered while mounting the brackets was a royal pain in the a$$. I managed to get it centered and straight, it wont win any awards or anything, but i can tell you it is strong as hell and serves its purpose! I plan on dressing it up in the future, but for now it'll do.     Just what engine are you swapping in you need the clearance ??

    Every electric fan in any vehicles I had come through managed to quit in the worst possible spot.

    I have thrown out quite a few and returned to stock

    At the time im not swapping the motor, just looking for all of the good things that come along with an electric fan swap. I do want to do a 2jz swap wayyyyyyyy down the road though. :bananadance: I've never had any problems with e-fans. Knock on wood!

    Thanks! She's quite the helper.... hasn't learned her tools yet so she just hands me random tools all the time. I wouldn't change it for the world though! :thumbsup:

    Just what good things come with a Electric fan??

    I have only ever found them useful in Engine Swaps instead of extending the engine Compartment .

    There are pro's and cons for both setups.... imo the electric fan setup has less cons.. But thats just my opinion. My last truck that I did the swap on I gained a few mpg, better throttle response, better cooling at cruising speeds... etc. Im hoping to gain the same on this truck :notsure:

    Well finished her up! Absolutely love it.... made more of a difference than I thought it would've. I've gained a lot better throttle response along with a lot better low end torque. Mpg improvement is yet to be determined. I ran into a issue that some of you may also run into. I unknowingly purchased a 98 Lincoln mark Viii fan thinking that it was a two speed fan, however I did some digging and found that I have a single speed version of the fan. I was unaware that they made a single speed version of the fan, so that is something that you need to check before you go wiring everything up. It wasn't that big of a deal but it would of been nice to know before I had done all of the wiring for Hi and Lo speed functions. I will post pictures of the different Mark Viii fans and how to tell them apart, as well as what my set up looks like all finished up. I am extremely happy with the results and recommend that anyone thinking of doing the swap should. The Dakota digital Pac-2750 is working flawlessly and has a lot of failsafe features that led me to its purchase. You don't have to go with that controller, however I recommend it! It was a extremely easy to wire up and the directions for programming along with troubleshooting are clear and concise. I will post pictures as soon as I am able! cheers and have a good day!

    I’m curious about your controller. I’m looking at installing this type of fan on my Tacoma. For those who are wondering why this particular fan, it’s hands down the most powerful fan you can get for next to nothing. I bought 10 of these fans at a junkyard in Dudley NC. They have a pic and pull on Saturdays to where you pay $50, and anything that you can tote across the scales is yours. I had no way of testing the fans on the yard, so I got all that I could find, cut a seatbelt out of a car, laced it through all the fans and carried them on my back across the scales. Some were bad some were good, used two, and sold the rest on eBay. When bench testing these fans hold them with two hands, and it will still probably take your hat off of your head! They are powerful! I had one on my 86 mustang, and 04 f-150. Both versions I wired them myself without a controller. I think mine came off of like a 97 thunderbird, but I cannot remember, it took me some digging to find these pics where I installed it on my F150 that I used to have. I used a relay box from the junk yard, one 75 amp relay, and one 30 amp relay. I used a fan controller switch that I picked up at NAPA, not sure what it fit, but it would turn the high speed on at like 210 deg f if I remember correctly simply by grounding the relay. I ran the low speed off of the a/c low pressure switch, the dash side so that the low speed fan would run continuously while running the a/c. Was a pretty simple wiring job, but I still wanna research the controller that you are using. The fan switch that I used had to be drilled and tapped into the output side of the cooling system, not something most folks would do, but it’s an everyday thing for me. Here’s some photos from my old f150. I chose to just mount the inner frame of the fan to my stock shroud. That’s what I plan to do with my Tacoma as well.

    I was actually going to wire mine the way that you did until I came across the controller that im using now. For the money it makes things much more simple and has a lot of features that you wouldnt get with wiring just relays. It has a run after key off function that can be programmed to set times. It also has failsafes that protect your motor, if it looses connection to the gauge signal it defaults to run continuously. Im impressed with it, ive used other controllers in the past i.e spal co trollers... absolute junk!!

    I really like how you mounted that, might have to look into doing that myself. Im more than likely going to switch to the thundebirds fan also so ill have a two speed function.

    Heres what it looks like finished. I will be changing the way the fan is mounted in a few weeks. Im also going to swap the fan to a 97 t-bird fan. Im not sure if you can tell from the pictures, but I eliminated the fan pulley all together. The two belts in the picture are shorter belts to accommidate the missing pulleys. I dont have a concrete number for my mpg gain yet, but I can tell you ive visited the gas station less frequently. I'll get you guys a set number as soon as I can. Ill also post up pics of the changes I make with the t-bird fan.

    20190222_174405.jpg A little off topic but just scored this intake today for $10 at the junkyard!!!! :yes: Pretty stoked about that... while there I checked every thunderbird they had. No electric fan to be found :annoyed: Im going to keep digging until I find one though. Oh and my mpg went from 17 mpg city to 22 mpg city. I expect it to go up a little more with that beautiful K&N filter.:yay:
