The site name is very fitting then.

Glad you can take a joke.

With people stealing gas, catalytic converters, parts, etc ...hard to have anything nice these days.

We have a local hero that has a few automotive repair shops. His facilities were not large enough to put all customer vehicles inside for the night. Anyway, his customers were complaining about having no fuel after coming in with full tanks of fuel. Sure as hell there was a guy stealing gas. Well the business owner put a few slugs of .45 ACP in him to persuade him not to do that again. I looked for the news article, but looking at all the comments, people were outraged that this business owner shot the thief. “It’s only gas” was the theme of those conversations. This is the mentality we are dealing with people. Guess those people have never filled up a 34-40 gallon fuel tank during high fuel prices, or replaced a fuel cell.

Which locking gas cap works on Tacoma's . No enemies but plenty of back woods kids running about just looking to get into trouble

Would a tank skid take care of it?

My wife's 2010 corolla has a locking fuel door.
Why Toyota does not come out with one is crazy, the sales would be great if they would make one for all Tacoma's.
How do you correct the code?

Ive posted about this before- there are three ways thieves get gas out of a 3rd Gen Tacoma. Siphoning it through the gas door is possible (I had to do it to mine with the right type of hose), and it is the only non-destructive way to do it. The other two require just a sharp tool, not a drill.

OP:check your gas tank for leaks, and also check the wheel well area behind the gas door to see if the inside wheel well plastic covering was cut to access the soft parts near the bend of the pipe behind the gas filler door leading to your tank.

They just drill above it on the side, happened to my 1st gen. The stock skid for 3rd gen Tacoma has holes on the bottom that don’t protect it from piercing tools.

I am not concerned about stealing gas, I am afraid someone would dump something in the tank

Forget sugar, just pouring water in will seriously mess up an engine. If they used sugar, that would be better for you than water.

It takes quite a bit of water to fuck up the engine, but a antifreeze however. Just a couple of water bottles full will hydrolock the engine.

Yeah, I was too. New tanks cost well over a grand, so I put an alarm on the side of the truck to alert me in the house when I park in the street overnight - its held in place on the side of my fuel door with a magnet (we don’t live on a busy street):

really....water can be filtered out, but sugar that had melted and the stuck to valves and cylinder walls can really fuck your engine up...not to mention all the lines and pump.....

Great idea, I am going to get this, and I did not know about water and antifreeze will mess things up. Water I figured but not antifreeze. I am just hoping that the kids leave me alone, I try and be polite to everyone. Right now last couple of weeks some idiot keeps throwing his empty beer can on my front. I have cameras but they have a delay on them. This just pisses me off and I am trying to get his time down and then I will pull off some guard duty, set my ambush up. I honestly can not remember ever throwing something out of my car window, and the cigarettes being thrown out is just plain stupid. Keep them in your own vechile

water in the gas tank isn't terrible, they make additives that you can put in your tank to counter water contamination. Worst that will happen is your truck either won't start or will run rough. If there's enough water then you just drain the gas tank fill it up with good gas and you're good to go.

Sugar and sand coagulates in gasoline and clogs fuel lines, fuel pump, injectors, etc. All those have to be cleaned or (most likely) replaced. If it works its way into the engine then you've got even bigger problems to worry about.

Won't be gas then, only 3.5 volt electric motor available.
4.0 volt motor discontinued after 9th gen.
