It has grown back some. The grassland is pretty good. Trees, not so much.

The Yellowstone National Park fire in 86’ (if I remember correctly) still has a very vistible scar.

@Deathbysnusnu taught me well. On one of my first off road excursions, up 7 mile canyon, a fallen tree blocked the trail. Brett grabs the chainsaw out of the truck - problem solved. Now I carry a chainsaw with me. Rainbow Falls area had some high winds earlier this week.

Damn it. I’ve had a chainsaw in my truck for I can’t remember how long. Until a couple of weeks ago I pulled it out when I was organizing my bed and haven’t put it back in yet. Now thanks to you gentleman talking about it today, there will be a free down every 20’.

I always have a pulaski, folding hand saw, and shovel in the truck along with all the other stuff. I still need to add a "pocket" chainsaw to my gear list. They are useful when mountain biking in the spring.

I'd always recommend carrying a chainsaw, or a good bow saw. Never know when a tree may be blocking your only way out.

I recieved some good and bad news today.

Buena Vista is out. I asked around on some other forums, and there’s 3-4’ drifts getting to the trailhead.

    Penrose, CO

    Independence Trail Ststem

We plan on being down there by 10am. Anyone wanting to go watch is more than welcome to park their vehicle at my place and ride down with us.

Lately, the forest service hasn’t been closing the Commons, so if people are stupid enough to drop into that trail with snow....
